Carrig island lodge is in a stunning location with a gorgeous view of the castle, the house was absolutely immaculate and was fully equipped with anything you could of thought of like towels, shampoo etc.. as a family of 10 we all had loads of space in bedrooms and beds were so comfortable. Didn’t get to stay. Despite pet friendly listing, on arrival, after 3 extra hours travel, was told that was not case (despite booking.com listing as such). Owner rang after we had left to offer accom with a friend of hers. Repeated to me in message following day that it was not listed as pet friendly. I sent a screenshot contradicting that statement.

I lived in this town as a child, been back many times since and as far as I remember I've never been inside this hotel let alone stayed in it! I loved it. It was like stepping back in time but with modern-day comforts! The staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful, cheerful, and all-around lovely. The room was comfortable, of a good size, really nice and clean. The food was delicious regardless of the meal. There was parking around the back but no parking at the front unless you were there for less than 30 mins.

A cute little b&b in the centre of Kilrush. A great base for if heading on to Doonbeg like we were. The food here is just on another level. It was such a joy to sit and talk to the owners over breakfast and none of our requests were too much trouble for them. If ever back in Kilrush, we will be staying here for sure 😊
