Medium sized Irish town sitting on the river Barrow.

Medium sized Irish town sitting on the river Barrow. Quiet on a Sunday but still worth a visit. Main tourist attractions are the Dunbrody Famine Ship where actors role playing as emigrants interact with visitors during a tour of the ship, the Ross Tapestry (note: not open Sunday or Monday), the Norman walking trail that details the origin of New Ross (some small hills to be tackled) and the nearby Kennedy Homestead and John F. Kennedy Arboretum (both to the south of New Ross). Plenty more to see and do in the area, particularly Tintern Abbey and the Colclough Walled Garden (best visited in the autumn when the many apple tress are fully laden).

Disappointing town, visited early evening.

Disappointing town, visited early evening. Not much of a choice of restaurants, bars and cafe. Parking not easy. We decide not to return the following day to visit Immigration/famine ship. The rest of Ireland: a fab country with beautiful countryside, towns and villages and so well kept and maintained. Best of all it's people - very warm and friendly.

Our main reason for visiting New Ross was to catch up with family friends. We drove down from Dublin Airport and they met us at Brandon House for dinner. We left for Dublin the next morning. Next time we will stay longer!

Beautiful countryside, plenty of amazing walks and sites close by. Everything you want is within 30-40mins drive or closer. Strawberry picking, beach, bigger town, wood walks, river walks, mountains. Literally, anything you would like to do is within an easy drive.

New Ross is a beautifully quaint town that sits on the River Barrow. Some of the streets can be steep at times but it is well worth a stroll with dozens of various small shops on the east bank that one doesn't see anymore in Ireland. Interesting heritage markers also exist throughout, it is obvious that the town makes a rewarding effort. Try to have a great pint of Guinness in the non pretentious bar "The Rag"

We visit Family in New Ross.

We visit Family in New Ross. I am not sure it’s a town that you would want to vacation in although it’s not a bad base to get around to other places if you’re driving. I don’t think there’s enough to see in New Ross for an entire holiday. You could probably see what it has to offer in a day!

Lovely quiet rural location but only 10 min drive to New Ross. Beautifully restored stone buildings, originally carriage house and stables. Lovely tastefully decorated spacious room with very comfortable bed. Great recommendations for eating out. Good coffee and scones for breakfast 5 mins drive at local fruit and veg etc supplies. Lovely host and family.
