FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

It’s a beautiful city with plenty to see and do.

It’s a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. Food was delicious and so many choices. Christmas markets were opening just as we were leaving, but they looked wonderful, varied and exciting. The walking tour of the Jewish Quarter was excellent, our guide, Attila, was very friendly, knowledgeable & with a great sense of humour, readily answering all questions. The 1 hr river trip was very enjoyable and relaxing. Buda side was well worth visiting, we took the castle bus for ease of getting around. Budapest has something for everyone and definitely worth a visit

The architecture is stunning, so much history, I highly recommend taking a walking tour, we took the free one from the Basilica at 11am and the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. Also take the hop on hop off bus as Budapest is much bigger than expected. Don’t change your money at the exchange kiosk’s just use your card for all purchases. We were ripped off using the exchange kiosks.

Budapest completely exceeded my expectations!

Budapest completely exceeded my expectations! This city is an absolute gem — full of history, charm, and breathtaking beauty at every corner. From its grand architecture and elegant bridges over the Danube to its cozy cafés and lively streets, Budapest perfectly blends old-world atmosphere with a modern, vibrant spirit. I loved wandering through the historic districts, relaxing in the famous thermal baths, and enjoying the stunning views from Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastion. The public transport is excellent — easy to use, punctual, and connects you to all the main attractions. People are friendly and welcoming, and the food scene is fantastic — from delicious local dishes to stylish modern restaurants. The city feels both elegant and relaxed, making it ideal for culture lovers, food enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a memorable European getaway. Budapest has truly captured my heart — I’ll definitely come back! ❤️🇭🇺

The best experience was the Danube cruise.

The best experience was the Danube cruise. We chose the Legenda cruise. The food was very good, and the staff was very welcoming. It's worth trying! You should be careful with taxi companies because those on the side of the road cost you 5 times more than a regular taxi. It is advisable to call the taxi (City Taxi Budapest) to pay a fair price.

Budapest is a must for anyone that has never visited. Unspoilt and authentic. Very friendly locals and plenty to see and do with ease. We have been many times and will hopefully continue to visit again in the future.

Budapest is an interesting city with many things to see.

Budapest is an interesting city with many things to see. The Danube River offers nice views, especially from the bridges or the riverside walk. The Parliament building is impressive and worth seeing, even just from the outside. The Central Market Hall was busy but enjoyable — a good place to see local products and try some Hungarian food. Overall, I liked Budapest. It’s easy to get around and there are many places to explore, although some areas can be quite crowded with tourists.

My family booked two rooms at hotel Danubiusz Erzsebet City Centre in September 2024. One room for me and my husband and one for my son and grandson. The hotel was recommended by colleagues from Etvos Lorand University, Faculty of Law which is nearby. This is our second stay at the hotel based on our good previous impressions. This time the stay proved to be horrible. I cannot recommend the Danubiusz Erzsebet City Centre hotel to anyone that would like to enjoy Budapest. The location is excellent but the facilities and staff are very poor.

Cheap accommodation in Budapest, 10-20 minutes walk to the city centre. The hostel is at the main noisy street, but the hostel is actually in an inner courtyard, so there is no noise from the street. Staff is nice and helpful, speaks fluent English. Definitely worth the money.
