FAQs about hotels in Zagreb

Great Opening to Croatia

The only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race, Zagreb sits over 120 metres above sea level and boasts typical Central European architecture: cobbled streets, impressive public buildings and well laid out greenery.

Built around two medieval settlements with the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) being its core, the city skilfully combines modern attractions with well-established favourites. Start your day at the Museum of Contemporary Art, then have a stop at the Zagreb Cathedral or make a wish at the Old Town Gate. The locals say it will be granted!

For a more relaxing time, Zagreb features two lakes - Jarun and Bundek - both offering recreational facilities and hosting festivals and events. After having fun in the sun, you might want to hit the shopping at the colourful markets and small boutiques selling local crystal, ceramics and cravats.

To get a different perspective on the city, climb Medvenica, a mountain over 1000 metres tall overlooking Zagreb, and admire the views while sipping famous Croatian wine. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Medvedgrad fortress.

Zagreb Airport is just 17 km and a short bus ride from the city. Whether you’re looking for an elegant hotel, classic apartment or cosy hostel, Booking.com has about 80 accommodation options for you to choose from!

"Dobri duh Zagreba" (the good spirit of Zagreb) lives on.

"Dobri duh Zagreba" (the good spirit of Zagreb) lives on. I had a jetlag and decided to go for a walk from the main square, Jelacic plac, to Britanski square around 5 AM in November. The stroll was relaxing and easy. Ilica street store windows were showing their goods, and window shopping was easy. I felt entirely safe.

Zagreb a city that quietly steals your heart.

Zagreb a city that quietly steals your heart. Every corner hides a melody from the old trams echoing through narrow streets to the laughter in hidden cafés. The people are warm, the rhythm calm, and the nights filled with light and music. Zagreb doesn’t try to impress you; it simply embraces you.

The city is not adapted to such a large number of cars, there are parking problems, the streets are not cleaned, in some tourist areas there is a lot of rubbish that has not been cleared for a long time, most of the city is undergoing restoration or repair, there are enough shops.

Great room, pool and good location for transport close to the city. I only wish I had known about the tram passes before I arrived, it would have saved a long walk with luggage from the airport bus station.

Zagreb is a very walkable city.

Zagreb is a very walkable city. It has plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. But I was very disappointed with the lack of warmth and friendliness by the locals. Good customer service is key to attracting tourism . I’m not so sure the locals understand that aspect of tourism.

I always wanted to visit, everybody's opinion on this city was quite low and I expected smth. Nah, it is THAT bad. You can see everything within 2 hours top. It's not quite Balkans, not quite Central Europe, tries to be something but falls flat. And unending renovations and closed pavements everywhere, impossible to enjoy the city. The signature st mark's church is still closed off to the visitors, with ugly containers around it and randomly parked cars of city clerks - you cannot even take decent pictures from afar lol. Avoid this place

Lovely hotel with really friendly staff. We parked right outside the hotel while checking in and they gave us a fob to get into the free carpark once we had finished checking in. The hotel is dated but it is very comfortable and the best bed in my entire stay in Croatia. Breakfast was ok with lots of choice and a great coffee machine. Around a 15 minute walk to the old town but plenty of bars and supermarkets on the way

Overall, the experience was good. The staff was pleasant, the hotel is very clean and well organised & furnished. The room was warm, close to the lobby, very clean, the bathroom was satisfactory, the service was responsive and at our disposal constantly. The location of the hotel was also very good - close to the bus stop and like 25min away from the city centre.

The hotel has the best location: close to the tram stop, the famous funicular, the central square, all the museums, the botanical garden, etc. I really liked the extreme responsiveness of the staff, I have not met better anywhere yet. Also a good breakfast, quite varied and filling. The room has a huge bathroom. Cleaning is done every day.

We suggest this lovely hotel to stay in Zagreb. Inside it's nicely decorated and clean. We stayed in a room with 3 separate beds, all of the beds were comfortable. 🙂 We loved the breakfast area, and the breakfast as well, it was very varied and delicious. The tram stops near the hotel, you can reach the city center easily.
