Immaculate hotel with beautifully manicured gardens and large swimming pool overlooking the mountains. The Lake of Zaros (Votomos) is a short walk away where there is a good taverna where we had an excellent meze lunch. Directly next to the hotel is a traditional watermill, trout farm and Votomos taverna where we had dinner while watching the sun set over the mountains. Our room was very modern with a very comfortable bed, walk in shower, flat screen television, fridge and large balcony overlooking the mountains. Free Wi-Fi and an excellent breakfast was included in the rate. We will definitely stay here again and recommend Hotel Idi to family and friends.

Excellent host, very proactive and helpful. Very comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room with a balcony. Nice hot shower. Good location. The host family are so nice. They gave me a lift to the next town as there were no buses that day from Zaros. Very kind

This is a beautiful traditional home in Zaros, offering three apartments. Every apartment is clean and extremely comfortable with everything you need inside. The bottom apartments are great for jumping straight into the pool and the top apartments are has incredible views. The village of Zaros has everything you need, tavernas, coffee shops, little traditional bars, pharmacy, bakery, butcher and gift shops. You are close to hike the Rouvas Gorge and visit Lake Zaros. The nearest stunning beaches are approximately 40min away. The owner Vivi and her sister Cristina make you feel welcome straight away. Their Taverna Vegera, is great, serving home cooked traditional delicious food. First of all, thanks to the host for making our holiday perfect. The accommodation was fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and airco in every room (if not multiple, living area). Even stuffed animals and family games. It was as clean as it could be. The terrace was a great place to sit and have a drink. With a gate that could be closed so the kids could play safely. I would highly recommend this place for long stay with children. Thank you having us!

Exceptional accommodation! Lovely and kind owners that go above and beyond to make your stay even more comfortable! We enjoyed our time in the beautiful garden, the house has everything you might need! I literally mean everything! The owners also provided loads of food on arrival, honey, masticha, raki, bread, eggs, etc. Which was great addition and it was very nice of them!

    The village is peaceful, full of charm, and perfectly located for exploring Crete. It has everything you need within walking distance — a grocery store, bakery, crepe shop, and several places to eat. The people here are incredibly welcoming, and we experienced true Greek hospitality and kindness. It’s a place with character, where you can relax and enjoy local life, yet still be within easy driving distance of all the island’s main attractions.

    I loved the serenity. It was a perfect escape from the City. A night without the usual mod cons is quite OK. The trout from the local restaurants was perfect for dinner. I would suggest avoiding the heat of Summer.

    Very peaceful location. Authentic unspoilt village. It was like stepping back in time. No touristy stuff at all..not even a souvenir shop as far as I could see.Surroundings are incredible. I was a solo traveller and felt very much at home there.. It'd a big draw for walkers..I just wanted to chill and enjoy the views .

    Zaros is a village in the mountains ,it has the famouse lake of Zaros and the spring and the famous water of Zaros. It has traditional food and helpful lokal people. You can visit in the summer as well in the winter.

    This came a bit randomly in our trip and we’re glad it did. We loved Zaros for both the warmth of its people and the beauty of its decor. Our hike in Rouvas was great and every encounter was like it was family members. One of the highlights of our trip to Creta. If you like getting closer to people and their culture it’s a must on your list. If you’re into more attractions or shopping this one is not for you.

    A very nice area of olive groves and brush from 500 m up where you can go hiking right from the hotel (Agios Ethimnios, Rouvas Gorge) or from Lake Votomos. You can also visit monasteries (in particular Vrontisi monastery). Plenty of good and very affordable tavernas around.

    Warm welcome by the friendly owners with home made local delicacies and tour around the house. Very quite location, with a lovely view from the terras on the Zaros mountains. The house is spacious, clean and all equipment is available. Excellent place to feel the authenticity of this very charming village and good base to explore the environment.

    Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Zaros, we loved the rooftop pool which gave a glorious view of the hills as well as a refreshing dip. The room was so pretty. Staff were so helpful and their restaurant recommendation for our evening meal was the most perfect restaurant. The breakfast we had the following morning was delicious

    From the moment we arrived we were extremely pleased with our choice of location and hotel. The surrounding area is stunning, in a rugged sort of way, with superb walking trails, clearly marked. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
