The jewel in the crown of Cretan hospitality! Ioannis, Maria and their family were consummate hosts from start to finish. The accommodation was so well equipped and comfortably furnished with a full kitchen and even small touches like a Chromecast on the TV. We felt so welcomed and they were so generous with homemade snacks, Greek coffees and salads from their garden. The pool was so nice, we had it almost all to ourselves, and the views were perfect. It was lovely to come home and relax after the hustle and bustle of Chania city centre and relax in the pool. Its location close to the main road made it easy to explore the mountains and west coast of Crete. But most of all, the genuine hospitality and welcome we received from this family was second to none and we look forward to coming back again!!

We had an amazing stay at Royal Sun, the room was very comfortable and with a beatiful view, the staff was really kind and nice, always helping and guiding us before and during our stay in Crete. Also, the breakfast was excellent, we could try a lot of things typical of Crete's kitchen and were delicious, and we can say the same about the restaurant, the waiters and waitress very professional and kind. They offer you a shuttle bus to the old town and the car rental service that they offer works really good too. We had a wonderful experience in Crete and we are so geatful for the treatment that all the staff gave us

If you have any connections to the engineering, architectural, design or construction industries you will be amazed to see this property which, in fact, was designed and built by its owners, an engineering family, I’m told. The level of detail in every square inch of the building is astounding. I have rarely seen architectural structures designed, built and furnished with such forethought and precision. Besides all that, the chef (as of Nov 2025) is hugely talented. In all my travels, I have never encountered such opulent breakfasts. At dinner time, even you don’t consider yourself a big fan of quail (I normally don’t like it because it can be dry) order it at this hotel and prepare to be amazed.
