Having spent nearly 2 weeks at Avaton this summer, I can truly say that we will always hold magical memories of our delightful stay! As someone prioritizing peace and tranquility and a connection to nature all the while looking to have a luxurious and clean accommodation - I was more than satisfied with Avaton. The property is beautiful and wonderfully located - you have the mountains, the trees, the sand and, most importantly, a beautiful turquoise sea of comfortable temperature. And one thing that I absolutely have to highlight about our stay is the genuineness and kindness of the staff. Everything we ever politely requested - was met with a sincere desire to best accommodate us. From the front desk to the restaurant to the beach, the staff has been exceptionally kind and by the end of our vacation, we felt like we were part of a little family that genuinely cared for us. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with extreme professionalism and competence by Vasco at the reception - this gentleman is truly great at his job, always has a most positive demeanor and has excellent memory as well, which makes him a great asset in the sphere of client relationships. His female colleagues at the reception are lovely too! At the restaurant, we were taken care by wonderful people as well - Eirini, Mariane, Stavros, Dimitris, Giorgios — everyone has always been kind, professional and quick to accommodate all of our requests! And we would also like to extend a special mention to the kind, hardworking staff at the beach — from the diligent Albanian gentleman named Leonardo, to the dedicated Mike, Anna and Denis — everyone has contributed to making our stay very special. We commend Avaton for having assembled such a great team of hardworking people and we really hope to see everyone again next summer, as we would surely love to return to this magical place!

Ouranoupoli is a beautiful small town with a soul.

Ouranoupoli is a beautiful small town with a soul. It changes from year to year— for some people for the better, for others for the worse. Religious tourism is very prominent outside the summer season. I believe that during the summer, beach season, this type of tourism also exists alongside the usual vacation and swimming tourism. The place is peaceful; the main street and promenade are full of religious shops where Orthodox icons and other church-related items are mostly sold. For young people, it’s not really the ideal destination. The very nature and sanctity of the area simply do not allow wild parties— it’s just not that kind of place. I don’t believe the local population would even like that. As for the food—and people don’t come here only for physical nourishment but also for spiritual—every restaurant along the coast is good. The service is decent, the prices are decent, although they too are drifting toward the typical tourist “fast and expensive” deviation: everything is becoming pricier, faster, with less flavor and lower quality. Hopefully that will improve as well. I hope someone local will read what I’m writing here, and that this isn’t in vain. Love needs to be brought back into cooking and hospitality. It’s not all about money, it’s not all about profit. Something lies in a smile, something lies in the satisfaction of a guest who ate, for example, a good fish and said, “I’ve never eaten a better fish in my life,” and truly meant it.

Ouranopoli is small and nice place.

Ouranopoli is small and nice place. A person could find quiet and cozy places or to be at the heart of the city where are located all the restaurants and bars. Beaches are very nice. The water is crystal clear and most of the beaches are with sand. There are lots of entertainments - boat rentals, diving, etc.

The apartment was beautiful, well laid out and perfectly presented - the perfect place to stay in Ouranoupoli for a boat trip to Mount Athos and visit the surrounding area. Ioannis was super helpful with information and helping me with a minor car issue. Can’t recommend this place enough - was only here two nights but wish I’d stayed a bit longer. Definitely a 10/10 apartment and overall experience.

It has some fantastic restaurants, like Kokkinos and MARE.

It has some fantastic restaurants, like Kokkinos and MARE. The Ammouliani beach on the opposite side of the island is completely worth everything. The Mount Athos shops and cruises make it special, too. You are going to need a car, as the best beaches are a few kilometers away and there are no sidewalks.

If you are a fan of seafood you will enjoy it, since there are many restaurants offering seafood, but if you are a pizza person you will be left hungry, since there is only 2 pizza places and both have the worst pizza I have ever tried. Also the best gyros place in town has very bad gyros since they cut it very thick and it tastes like not baked enough

The town is dominated by the stunning Byzantine tower; the rest of the town is buzzing with places to eat traditional food. The town itself is not particularly picturesque, but the surrounding beaches, scenery and landscape are majestic. It's good base for exploring the area and for getting boats to other areas as well as Mount Athos.

I use to stay in this hotel already some years and I will come bach again for sure. The hotel is great 3* hotel with very friendly lady owner / manager. Central location, some rooms facing the street, som the church yard ( very loud sound of the church bells for sure wakes you up on Sunday morning -:) Very clean rooms, good size, good beds, simply said this is an ideal place to stay in Ouranoupoli for few days.

The personnal and owner of the hotel are very kind. Thanks again for their kindness and services. The beach is at 5 min, you just cross the street and take a stair down to a small beach . It was not crowded and perfect to relax. You have a small supermarket just next to the hotel. If you want to go up to the port of ouranoupoli you will need to walk about 15 min.
