The area was mostly fine.

The area was mostly fine. In some areas the town was looking tired. Absence of any visible street cleaning. We must have passed an area where someone had let their dog foul the pavement at least eight times as we walked up and down to our guest house and back down towards the lake I know it’s individual dog owners where the responsibility lies but even so it’s a big tourist area So one would expect a bit more pride in the area Unfortunately we won’t be rushing back to visit

Windermere is a vibrant town.

Windermere is a vibrant town. It has a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars offering a great range of food genres. It has a lot of independent shops with wonderful window displays and friendly, helpful teams. It has a spectacular lake which is lovely to walk beside. It is also a gateway to other towns in the wider area of the Lake District.

Scenery was breathtaking.

Scenery was breathtaking. Fabulous restaurants, coffee shops and boutique shops. We had fantastic food at the Thai restaurant King of Siam. Had a trip around the lake and drove to Cockermouth, Keswick and Scafell Pike.

Windermere town centre is small but has plenty of cafes and restaurants to meet all food lovers types. There are a good selection of shops for gifts etc. and all are within a few hundred yards and not too far from the railway station or buses to travel to other parts of the lakes. It is also a 10 to 15 minute walk to Bowness (downhill) which is also the place to hop on to the lake boats or alternative dining or shopping and the Beatrix Potter experience. My pictures are of the lake side in Bowness

We had our honeymoon in Windermere many years ago, so revisiting places. Windermere is a beautiful location with plenty to do for all the family. Easy to get around with buses to the Lakes if no car. Went on the Ravenglass steam train, which was amazing highly recommend.

The area is stunningly beautiful and the people are so friendly and chatty. It was a real pleasure to be there. I'd recommend a day tour just so you see everything. Driving around the hills was hair-raising, another reason to take a tour. The town Bowness was a bit tacky and touristy.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was not only spacious but also well-equipped, providing all the comforts we needed. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a great variety of options. The location is perfect, just a short 5-10 minute walk to either Bowness or Windermere, making it easy to explore the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay!

Everything was fabulous. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The food was delicious in the restaurant- we were a party of 11, everyone had something different and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the meal. Breakfast was delicious too! All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The pool area was clean, modern and relaxing. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning. Thanks to all the team at the Windermere Manor hotel.

The hotel is located in a prominent position in Windermere just near the railway station. There’s parking outside the front of the hotel, but spaces aren’t guaranteed, but we were lucky to get one. There’s parking outside and reception staff are all lovely and polite. The breakfast was excellent value for money, and the staff in this area were equally lovely and accommodating.
