Cathedral was main reason we visited Winchester. Tour was very interesting. Get there for 10am for most personal tour with only 4 people in the group. Would advise you check dates of roof tours to ensure you make the most of your visit to catherdral.

A lovely vibrant city with plenty of interesting shops and restaurants and, of course, the magnificent Cathedral! There is a lot going on and we could have stayed longer if we had time. Definitely recommend you will love it!

A wonderful place to visit for culture, sights dining or shopping. We did a mystery tour too on our visit. Who was it who had rifled King Henry VIII’s Golden Tankard ? An intriguing five hundred year old mystery that our intrepid team of sleuths set out to solve, with a set of clues, while exploring the historical sights of Winchester; including a few fine ale houses, I might add ! What a cracking day out. Highly entertaining and great fun in equal measure.

If you are visiting for food and shopping stick to the main high street. If you want history and nature be sure to wander to the cathedral, and beyond to the College and the river path, the water meadows, and the Great Hall. The side streets are beautiful.

We needed accommodation close to Winchester and despite a lot of negative reviews, we booked here, mainly because it was SO much cheaper than anywhere else near Winchester. We’ve been pleasantly surprised and have enjoyed our 5 nights here. The room is really spacious, it’s clean, we have a full length bath, the bed is comfy and the linen is good. There’s a microwave in the foyer, which has been handy. There’s staff are lovely and very helpful.

After an initial problem with our room the hotel quickly let us have an up-graded rom at no extra cost. Additonally they gave us free parking for our troubles. The staff were wonderful - really nice people. Beakfasts were first class & we dined there on our final night - the food was exceptional and the staff were wonderful. Such a handy hotel for visiting Winchester

Pleasant functional room overlooking gardens which are the best feature of this hotel despite city location. Clean. Staff impersonal. Room small. Breakfast average. Prices sometimes lower on this site than booked direct but generally a bit higher than other comparable hotels in Winchester.

Fantastic location for visiting the Cathedral and older parts of the Winchester city. Lots of space in room and hotel. A good room price for central Winchester, but all meals are extra and fairly pricey ( see below).
