I was only passing through and stayed one night just outside Wincanton. I only had time for a short walk round the town but found a lovely independent cafe/delicatessant, 'Clementina', comfortabe with a warm welcome. I had a lovely coffee and almond croissant to warm up, and while in conversation with the ?owner, she only charged for my coffee as a birthday treat!! This was a quiet Sunday morning in early December but would stop off again and be interested to see more of the town.

A great destination for those traversing the south of England, with very close proxmity to the A303. It is hospitable on weekdays but comes alive at weekends with 'pie night' and a good self-serve breakfast. Our room was warm and comfortable.

Wincanton itself is a small town which has most things you may need but is not a pretty town like other places in Dorset. The pub/hotel is not nearby to anything and is quote close to the A303, so a convenient place for a stop over when travelling.

Ideal location for lots to do in the area, easy access from the A303, good supermarket close with nice cafe in, petrol reasonably priced. Car wash was excellent Town is quite small but a nice wander round, a few nice shops to look at.

It was a shame the shop (Terry Pratchett) was closed across road. Would have loved to visit - perhaps next time. Great butchers across road. Very quiet village, but we were visiting other places during day and didnt have time to look around much. Great farm shop and art gallery in Bruton. The Newt is close by and farm shops local. We ate at the dolphin hotel/pub, food good but when new restaurant opens in courtyard expect bigger menu. Wincanton is easy to get around. Would visit again as everyone so lovely and helpful at the Dolphin.

Apart from the Dolphin, which was excellent, we also had a meal and a few drinks down the road in Wincanton at the Nog Inn, which was also good. It was easy to walk around the town - fairly compact. One or two premises (e.g. hotels) were closed down.

Located in Wincanton High St. There is a car park to the rear (but tight access through arch) but plenty of overnight parking in the High St (okay till 9AM). Room was comfortable enough and bathroom compact, but electric shower was powerful and as hot as you like. Breakfast is a simple affair with buffet drinks, juices and cereals and an amazing cooked breakfast. Lovely spicy sausages and lean, meaty, tasty bacon both from the local Butcher on the other side of the High St.

Perfectly positioned in the center of the delightful little haven which is Wincanton. The whole place radiated good natural energy. Couldn't fault the room. Perfect for what I needed. Comfortable and beautiful.

The hotel looked lovely when we arrived, it had tons of character. Reception were very welcoming and check in went smoothly. Although we were not planning on using any of them, they did have spa facilities.
