The cottage itself was cosy and comfortable - a great place to relax in between lengthy walks around the region. We did rely on self-catering for this trip. Nearby pubs appeared to have limited opening hours for food, and the local convenience store stocks little more than basics. We loved to hear the noise of various birds and animals around the immediate area, but others my find this less appealing. We were very lucky with the weather but we would have felt happy holing up in the cottage if the weather had turned bad. We could have also gone through to a nearby town by bus, if needed. We wished we had utilised the cycle rental to get through to Thor's Cave which is a must-see local attraction. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the region. We visited Buxton and would have visited other nearby towns if we had the time. We did on occasion experience difficulties with narrow country roads and hills, but that's just because we're city folk with limited experience of rural areas.

Beautiful cosy and clean cottage.

Beautiful cosy and clean cottage. Perfect location for a short stay. We had travelled from Devon to go to Alton Towers which was only 15minutes away. Small shop and pub nearby. Dry clean, lovely hosts and a fabulous array of animals to say hello to!

Very convenient for alton towers but it has inspired me to return and see more of the area as the location was charming. The cottage was furnished beautifully and had all the space we needed and a few added extras such as the farm animals, the games, satelitte tv, fourposter beds.
