Dunster village is beautiful, very historical and picturesque. We were pleasantly surprised with Dunster Castle Hotel. Our hosts were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome. We had 2 rooms, both comfortable. There is parking behind the hotel. We were in the centre of the village so it's lovely to explore, we also went down to the beach and to see the old train station. Our breakfast was very good, a lovely place to stay.

We really enjoyed a most wonderful experience of staying at the Beach hotel. Excellently situated on the front with a view of the sea and next to the railway station. Light and spacious eating , drinking and sitting areas around the ground floor with the most fabulous breakfasts. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds, tea and coffee, great shower and bath attached. When I developed a medical problem they absolutely bent over backwards to assist me and for that I am totally indebted to the staff and especially Julie and Emma who were so incredibly kind and helpful. Highly recommended!

A very nice country Inn, in a very pleasant location. Everything was well run and we enjoyed our short stay. The staff were cheerful, and very helpful, We had dinner in the restaurant adjoining the bar, and the food was very good.

Cottage is tucked away from the main road, but a short drive to Blue Anchor beach, the harbour town of Watchet, or a bit further to Minehead if you’re looking for more. Great walks on Exmoor, historic Dunster, and heritage railway nearby.

Great position for pub on a small river with a nice garden, It is in walking distance from the excellent Cleeve Abbey and has a great position on the very edge of Dartmore but near (2.5 miles) Watchet with its great prominade / front and harbour and just 5Miles from Minehead.

Best welcome we have ever experienced.

Best welcome we have ever experienced. Made to feel more than at home. Made some good friends there. The White Horse is a little way from the Steam Railway, but parking at Washford is ok. Great place for walking for the more active of us. Easy to get to Minehead, Watchet, etc. Steam train ride always a plus!!

Washford is an ideal place to stay if your looking at...

Washford is an ideal place to stay if your looking at visiting Exmoor, The Quantocks, West Somerset Railway or even if your into country walks. It has easy access to a foot path which links to the Mineral Line, which was an old railway used between Exmoor and Watchet and is now a lovely country walk. In total, its around 11 miles, but from Washford, you can walk to Watchet (around 2 miles) and get the steam train back. Cleeve abbey is just a short walk up abbey road. Some nice pubs are quite local, The White Horse serves good food at really reasonable prices and is just a short drive up abbey road. There are 2 nice chip shops just a 5 minute drive away in Alcombe, together with a COOP, and roughly the same distance is a Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl and McDonalds on the outskirts of Minehead At the time of our visit, the local Washford pub had shut down, and there doesn't appear to be any grocery stores either but there are plently just a short drive away.

It was wonderful until I found I was trapped upstairs at 8...

It was wonderful until I found I was trapped upstairs at 8 am and no staff had been on site all night. Phoned and cook said can't help I'm cooking breakfast. She did help but she was rude to me. I'm 73 female alone who needs help with bags.

Really friendly service, excellent food both at dinner and breakfast. We also had a special request for a take-away breakfast option, which was satisfied without issues. The room was lovely (we stayed in room n. 1), spacious bathroom and lovely view from the windows. The hotel has free parking outside. Someone might find this info useful: the hotel is located 10 minutes away from a bus stop (bus 28 which takes you straight to Minehead, where the Coastal Path starts).

Rustic and out of the way, great staff, good food, particularly the big brekkie - although this was on top of the accomodation charge £12 each) which is why I have rated this hotel a 4 (value for money was ok but a bit more than other places we researched). In saying that, we would stay again. A comfy inn and clearly popular with the locals.
