Absolutely wonderful property, the photos don’t do it justice, the place is so much nicer than the photos show. Everything is well thought out and provided for a comfortable stay. The grounds are delightful, and the location perfect. We loved our stay, would highly recommend and hope to return. Also, private access to Windermere, where you can sit and have a drink/launch your paddleboard away from crowds on the other side.

The lodge is a great distance to Windermere and Ulverston and just a short drive on an A Road off the M6. The lodge itself was very clean and comfortable and very accommodating in terms of amenities one may need to use. Lovely surroundings and very peaceful during the day and at night - great for privacy. Would love to stay again.

Ulverston is a beautiful old English market town, with cobbled streets and many small independent shops. We were a little surprised that the town centre around King St, Queen St etc was not pedestrianised; a lot of large cars whizzing about. Good walk up to the Barrow monument, and of course the town is the starting point for the 72 mile Cumbria Way walk to Carlisle. Would definitely recommend this lovely little town, which is full of character and characters! 👍

A great market town, market on Saturday, and plenty of walking with great views. Canal Foot takes you to the coast, the Cumbria Way starts at Ulverston with super views of the Coniston Fells. Plenty of pubs serving great food. Main shops, cafes are closed on Sundays. The monument on Hoad Hill is well worth a visit, and when the flag is flying outside from 1pm on a Sunday you can take the 112 steps to the top for a donation. Staff there are very helpful. We dined at The Mill, excellent, and the Rose and Crown, also very good. The Farmers Arms is also good and The Friends pub has a fabulous beer garden. Bardsea village and the Budhist Temple is also recommeded. We also visited the Laurel & Hardy Museum as a private group of 22, most enjoyable.

We were visiting family amd found it to be a charming town with many independent shops. Lots of places to eat and drink. Our visit was at the beginning of September so probably not as busy as during the summer months and it is a distance to the main lakes. Probably ideal for hikers and those looking for less commercial areas. Parking was an issue even though there are a lot of car parks.

The people and cleanliness of Ulverston are second to none. Really nice local shops (Nice to see used shops and not boarded up). There is a good selection of local restaurants and pubs to sit and watch the world go by. Well done to the residents of Ulverston you should be proud.

Delighted to have found this gem in Ulverston. Our room was spacious, with a kettle and tea/coffee (something not always provided) and a comfortable bed and luxurious towels. The hosts were charming and helpful, pointing us in the direction of cheaper parking and giving excellent dining recommendations. A good choice of breakfast items, the full English freshly prepared and delicious. With its central location and warm welcome, I would not hesitate to recommend Old Daltongate House to others.

We were blown away by how well equipped the cottage was. It had everything you needed and more in the kitchen - the host had really thought about the extra things that would be really useful when on holiday in the Lake District! The cottage was so clean and cosy and the views were amazing. We also fed the goats and sheep which was great. We would definitely stay here again!
