We stayed in Torquay to visit the football ground and staying in the harbour area was only a 20-25 minute walk away, though uphill, from the ground. Would definitely recommend a trip to Plainmoor stadium, their hospitality was excellent value and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We met some fellow supporters who were visiting the drinking establishments afterwards and Torquay has plenty, including a Wetherspoons. The town is also well connected with a train station and frequent buses that take you throughout The Riviera. We stayed in Torquay for a reason(football) but the town is past it’s glory days and I would chose(for a general holiday), the charm of Brixham or for families(who don’t like the tackiness of Paignton), the delightful suburb of Goodrington (great beach). The excellent no 12 bus service covers all these areas so you would still be free to explore the other areas of The Riviera, without a car, if that was your wish.

Lovely seaside town with plenty to see.

Lovely seaside town with plenty to see. Locals as we wandered the streets were very friendly and welcoming. Great restaurants with views of the seaside. We ate at Las Iguanas and it was fabulous - the food was delicious, drinks perfect and the staff were all just fabulous.

Lovely seaside location. Some great restaurants.

Lovely seaside location. Some great restaurants. Would recommend the boat trip to one of the nearby towns. Promenade is great however, the High Street is a bit depressing. Saw a lot of drug abuse there in broad daylight, police and a man passed out on the street. All a bit bleak.

Torquay has something for everyone.

Torquay has something for everyone. A fabulous beach with a cafe at the far end. The marina is fabulous for a leisurely walk, you will also pass many cafes / bars along the way to stop at for coffee and cake ir indeed something a bit stronger and a meal. Ice cream can be bought too whilst you take your stroll. On e into the centre town of Torquay it does not disappoint with its many shops. The park in front of Torre Abbey is spectacular with its floral displays, grassed areas and plenty of seating.

Nice Waterfront, large marina, but the town area was a bit tired. We drove to Brixham and thought it was possibly a nicer place to stay. Lovely meal at the quirky Mr Cook restaurant near to the Torre Abbey

The hotel is so beautiful and located in a lovely part of torquay with easy access to restaurants and the marina. The spa is immaculate and facilities were top notch. When we arrived we were greeted by a duty manager named Leo and it was honestly the best welcome after a long drive. I arranged a bottle of fizz for our room to celebrate a birthday and Leo had it all arranged nicely in the room just before we arrived. Big kudos to him for his impeccable customer service.

The location was ideal for Burn It Down festival and Torquay seafront. It was cheap compared to other places at the time of booking and better equipped than a hotel room.
