I was traveling with my USA friends and what more to score with than a historical building. You’ll have to do stairs so travel light. But comfortable beds and good shower, nice breakfast and also to have a look around in the downstairs area. We were traveling from Scotland to Wales and this was our ideal middle point situated at the road but quiet at night

The hotel is ideally situated in the beautiful Keswick area, approximately a five-minute drive from the town centre. We spent only 1 night in the hotel. The double and the single beds were comfortable with a clean toilete. The hotel has a big parking area but if you cant find any you can still park on the street for free. There is a path 10 minutes from the hotel into the mountain. The full english breakfast was delicious definitely worth it. I can highly recommend the hotel if you would like to spend a few days in the lakes.

I normally stay at Keswick, but Threlkeld is delightful, and I could still walk into Keswick on the old railway walkway. The views are beautiful. I did a sponsored walk around Ullswater, which is nearby, and it is my new favourite lake. There are two nice pubs, otherwise small and quiet. It is a lovely holiday location.

I would recommend it but make sure you stipulate that you want to stay in the Horse and Farrier or you end up in the sister hotel ‘The Salutation Inn’ along the road. Very disappointing not to stay where I thought I had booked. Saying that we were comfortable and had all meals in the H&F which were excellent.

Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick.

Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick. It is accessible by bus and the starting point to climb Blencathra. Castle Rigg Stone Circle is nearby and the village has a good pub called the Horse and Farrier (booking recommended) and a nice café for breakfast. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay near Keswick, you can't do much better than this.

Excellent location close to the heart of Threlkeld. Lovely views over adjacent houses to the fells beyond from many of the rooms. Good showers in main bathroom and en suite. Lovely big rooms both upstairs and downstairs. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of comfortable seating and a nice little set of outdoor chairs and table. Private parking was very convenient and we were actually able to keep three cars (hatchbacks)close to the house and safe.

The food was excellent, both for evening meal and breakfast. Because of a problem with the booking they upgraded us to a suite , which was brilliant. The manager Dave was so helpful and encouraged us to try the walk from Keswick to Threlkeld along the old railway track- which was great. So a brilliant 2 days to celebrate our wedding anniversary. And there was wifi in the room, which we hadn’t expected.

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. We particularly enjoyed the hike up Blencathra from Scales which looks down on the accommodation. Amazing views from the studio. Lovely town with 2 pubs (horse & farrier great for food) and a good cafe at Threlkeld village Hall.
