Best nights sleep in a long time. We booked this hotel at the last minute. All the staff were friendly and attentive, the food in the restaurant was great, the bed was large and very comfy and the room was quiet. Breakfast was huge and the grilled bacon was particularly delicious 😋. All in all this was a great hotel and I'd really recommend it to anyone passing through Stroud. Shout out to the manager for being awesome and Ash for his great dinner service and wicked highballs! 10/10 would definitely stay again.

Going into Stroud is not worth all the fuss and hassle.

Going into Stroud is not worth all the fuss and hassle. The multiple roundabouts pose a challenge to even seasoned drivers. The Five Valleys shopping centre is on multiple levels. I entered at the top level and it was a guessing game to find my way out if this three dimensional maze. I eventually zig-zagged my way down to the ground floor and out, wondering where the signs were. It was similarly a challenge to find Tesco Extra. On the positive side, Rodborough Common affords very beautiful views.

Stroud is a lovely town in the Cotswolds with lots of character. There is plenty of parking in various locations. Some is even free after 2pm, eg. near Waitrose. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the town and in the locality. For real ales try The Stroud Brewery. There are frequent concerts at the Subscription Rooms which are right in the centre of town with some great bands, etc.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonable

The staff were so helpful and friendly, which added to the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The food, both small plates and a la carte, were delicious. Also, being able to dine outside overlooking the beautiful grounds on a warm evening was great. We were able to get to Stroud by bus (directions given by a staff member) and would have been able to get to Cheltenham by train (had there not been train works going on). Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely visit again in the future.

The staff are a credit to The Stroud Hotel! We felt so welcome and looked after and our dog I think would want to move in with her plush bed and treats that you thoughtfully supplied. Congratulations also to the chefs, particularly the Sunday dinner, stunning breakfasts and evening menu. Thank you to the lovely social media lady for the directions to a lovely canal walk : )

Great location - short walk up to the very pretty castle street area. Easy checkin with great host and well equipped. Layout of the apartment is really good for a couple staying and, unusually in Stroud, a parking space. If we’d visited in the Summer we would have used the little terrace with a great view to the hills.
