The castle is a must-see and we appreciated the free guided tour where we learnt so much about the castle and Scottish history. The views are amazing. There are plaques on a lot of buildings to explain what they were back in the day. We met up with friends who live in Stirling and took us on a tour round the old town, pointing out all sorts of things. We saw some groups doing walking tours and would otherwise have booked one. We didn't get to the jail which looked good. We're saving that for our next visit.

Stirling itself has strong historical ties with Scottish history, battle of Stirling Bridge, the castle and Bannockburn, I didn't visit Bannockburn visitor centre on this trip but it is worth a visit. The Wallace Tower is near by. Stirling is also a good starting point for trips, I visited Aberdeen, Perth, Linlithgow and Crieff during my stay. the town centre itself was quiet during my stay maybe because it was November but it does mean you are not jostling with the crowds as you would in most cities.

Stirling is a great city for people interested in history and craft - the castle is unique and full of treasures, such as re-created tapestries, carving and decoration. The bus station is a short walk from the castle and shopping streets, and there are several park and rides.

The history of Stirling, it’s pivotal setting as the link between the Highlands and lowland Scotland, it’s Royal connections and it’s impressive buildings made our first visit here memorable. We will certainly come again to explore further. The castle, the Holy Rood church and the historic old river bridge and site of the battle in 1297 (?) were the highlights for us.

The fact that we stayed beside the grounds of the Battle of Bannockburn was fantastic, great history, unfortunately the visitor centre was closed during our stay. We were there for the history and were not disappointed, taking in the Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn, The Kelpies, and the Falkirk Wheel. Having a rental vehicle with built in navigation was a bonus and made getting around so much easier than if doing so strictly by map.

It's really nice hotel. Big, fancy and just in the middle of city centre. Room was big, clean - with really comfy beds, even the bathtub was there! So, it was so nice to take a bath after long day walking around the Stirling. Tasty breakfast with a wide range of food (sausages, beans, mushrooms, eggs, fruit, toast,...) and drinks (different types of coffees, juices etc..). Like I wrote, location is fantastic - close to shopping centre, bus and train station, and it's just below the castle.

The hotel is very well located on the outskirts of Stirling only 5 minutes from the Castle and right next to the freeways to Edinburgh/Glasgow/Highlands/Campbeltown. Its VERY run down but for a night it was fine. The highlight is the pub on site with very affordable meals, kids meals especially. If you book direct with them, you get 20% off your meal, something to note if you are using this platform. There is ample parking.

Staff were lovely and helpful. Food in the restaurant was delicious.... You must try the pavlova! The location was great with the added bonus of the Battle of Bannockburn visitor centre being next door, which was really interesting to visit.. Great views of Stirling Castle from the park next to the hotel. Exceptionally comfortable bed and really quiet.
