Good location for visiting the Island.

Good location for visiting the Island. Able to walk to Fermain Bay from here and then round the Bay to St Peter Port. A few handy shops too and a Methodist Church. Fermain Bay hotel is a great location for eating or just having coffee if you can’t make it down the hill to the Fermain Bay cafe.

There were many things to see and do from museums, a castle, great food and spectacular roads. Fresh seafood was amazing. Found a great little gin distillery too. The roads are scary, very narrow and lots of road works. Don't drive there if you are not happy reversing. We struggled to get to some places due to the roadworks everywhere.

It is out of the town so quieter with less stress, even had horses walking in the lanes. The bus network is excellent (buy the bus pass), covers the whole island & is a short walk to/from the hotel. I bought a museum pass so spent time with all exhibits(enjoyed the firing of the noon day gun). I was on a working break so didn't have much time for walking tours (next time!) especially to explore Herm, Sark & Alderney.

This was my first visit to Guernsey (and Jersey) and, while many aspects were very British there were distinct differences, for example the French place and street names, blue post boxes and 35 mph speed limit signs!

I used to live in st Martin many years ago, it is clean and polished with lots of shops and pubs and a great location. if you like walking, st Martin has the cliffs on its doorstep. The downside is that it is expensive to get there from most UK airports and the hotels and accommodation are more expensive. I would say that the choice of food is extensive and you can eat cheap or al a cart depending on your budget, has a great selection of pubs all over Guernsey and beautiful beaches with cheap bus rides to anywhere on island for £1.50. The jewel in the crown has to be a short ferry trip to Herm for the day where you can lie on white sandy beaches that can be mistaken for being on a caribean island.

The hotel was in a beautifully quiet part of St Martins, and a short walk to the bus stop for town. The room was a great size and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was great, with a good range of options available, and the breakfast room itself was also lovely.
