New owners (very new owners in fact) are doing an excellent job of breathing new life into this wonderfully located hotel. The staff are very welcoming and want to do as much as possible to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The location, four or five miles south of Berwick is easy to access and wonderful for getting to the extremely beautiful Northumbria and Scottish border locations. Stay here rather than on the nearby Holy Island and you will save a fortune. Room 2 is a twin room, both clean & comfortable, with a hanging space rather than a wardrobe and a small but perfectly adequate en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast (included in the price) was individually prepared not a buffet. The food was delicious. As the new owners settle in it promises to be a great place to stay & eat. Very quiet - Noise levels from the main road and downstairs bar area were virtually non-existent.

We were the only ones in the hotel on this dreary January day. But Kat and Heather went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was a lovely place and the beds - even the extra beds- in our room were amazing. We all had a wonderful sleep and a great breakfast the next morning. Thanks again Kat and Heather!

Location was perfect. A very short drive into town, but off the main streets so no passing car noises at night. The breakfast was amazing. The host went above and behind. They got vegan sausages, milk, and other vegan items for us to have a full cooked vegan brekkie. The host was delightful to talk to and very knowledgeable of the local area

A beautiful, well-kept, modern hotel. They were very accommodating when we requested an early arrival. They use refillable bottles and jars for drinks, milk, and bathroom toiletries, which is great for the environment, reducing plastic waste. A small fridge was in the room for us to use. It contained milk and drinking water.

Apartment was great for a group of 4 girls. The apartment is very well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. The apartment had a gorgeous back yard that would be beautiful to sit out on a summers evening. The apartment had a beautiful modern bathroom with a free standing bath, double sink and shower. There is parking directly outside, you do only get an hour free, however we stayed sat - sun and it was free after 5:30pm and all say Sunday which was great. You do need a parking disc which you can buy in most shops for £1. The apartment is really easy to find and the host send clear messages on how to locate the building and how to obtain the key.

The beach has a nice landscape, if on the slightly mournful side because of the grey skies. But it is a very northern English coast after all! The water quality was good, though a bit colder than what I suspect most people would be used to. The sand was soft and clean.
