We know Shaldon very well, living within 30 minutes drive.

We know Shaldon very well, living within 30 minutes drive. But, for anyone visiting for the first time, the village is a real gem! Two great pubs, the London and the Ferry Boat Inn, as well the Ness Hotel and bar. Beautiful setting overlooking Teignmouth. The village is a warren of old and quaint cottages and houses, full of character and charm. Good local convenience store and independent butchers. Nice coffee shops and cafes. If visiting, you must take the foot ferry over to Teignmouth and experience the beauty of the river. The locals are very friendly and village vibe is so laid back it is impossible not to soak into full relaxation.

Sheldon is a small town, but very relaxed atmosphere (we were there mid September, so might be different in full summer). There are a couple of very good cafes and pubs, including the Clipper inn and The Ness up on the hill. It is quiet, and the pedestrian ferry across to Teignmouth is very handy, although it is only a roughly 30 minute walk over the bridge. The botanical gardens are a nice stroll, but it is a little bit of a climb up though worth it for the view. There is also a small zoo (we did not visit it) and the walk along the river is peaceful.

Shaldon is an historic riverside town, full of character, with relatively easy access to the many attractions in this part of Devon. Pleasant coastal walks from the town. There are several eating options for meals within walking distance, and an excellent bakery. The roads may be a little narrow, but they were built at a time when the combustion engine was not around.

We regularly visit Shaldon, it is a small seaside village, perfect for families. You can easily spend a few days there without the need to drive anywhere although there are many other lovely towns and beaches to explore from a short car journey.

Returned to Shaldon for a short break as we loved it previously having stayed for a week 6 years ago . Great traditional fishing village with pubs , restaurants , local amenities , etc. Ate at The Clipper Cafe and The London Inn (Owner Tim is a great host and very knowledgeable about the area and the Spirits he sells in his pub) Narrow streets and parking can be tricky .

Lovely place to visit with good beach for dog walking and watching the boats and fishermen. The village is pretty with good amenities - great bakery, butcher's shop and convenience store. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Would recommend Cafe-ODE, the Clipper Cafe and The Ferry Boat Inn ( a great pub). Found food at The London (incredibly salty Beef Stroganof and awful deep fried seafood platter) and The Ness ( overcooked dry steak pie) very, very disappointing, though service in both places was good.

The cottage was based in a great location. It had all the amenities we needed and was very clean and tidy. It was also really nice to have an outside area to relax in. The complimentary bottle of Prosecco and chocolates were much appreciated. Eve and Mike were responsive and generous hosts. Shaldon itself is a little gem of a village and this cottage is very central to the beach and shops. It was a good choice for a family holiday.

The location was perfect as it was walking distance from Shaldon and there was a longer walk or ferry to Teignmouth. The house itself was very comfortable, particularly the beds. The kitchen had all you would need to cook with a dish washer and washing machine. It was on a very quiet street.

The property was immaculate with everything you would ever need. The views from the back garden are stunning. Short walk to the local pub and very friendly locals. Lovely little fish and chip shop in Shaldon village. We would definitely stay here again.

This lovely house was more like a home than a rental property. It felt very cosy and was beautifully clean and presented, in a very nice and scenic area. We were sorry that we couldn't stay longer!
