To be fair Storm Amy had began and the amount of road works between Wistow and Drax was an unexpected hindrance. Although Selby Abbey brought back memories of a wedding we attended some years back. Selby is a well appointed town with plenty of shops, Monday market day near the Abbey, regular buses to York and Designer Outlet. Other than the magnificent abbey there are few obvious sites in Selby and it seemed to have few attractive places to eat. It is a pleasant town to walk around and there are good views from the bridge over the River Ouse.
