Lovely friendly staff, a genuine and personal welcome when we arrived set the tone for the rest of the stay. The hotel has been recently renovated and our room was beautifully decorated with a fantastic balcony view. Excellent food in a perfect peaceful location with walks from the door. Many thanks to Sue and her team, we can’t wait to return.

The hotel is ideally situated in the beautiful Keswick area, approximately a five-minute drive from the town centre. We booked seven rooms for 15 guests; the rooms were of comfortable size, breakfast was excellent, and the property itself was charming. It was a pleasant and memorable stay for all 15 of us. We would gladly return and recommend this property to others.

The apartment is well equipped and very comfortable. The setting is amazing, just a few minutes drive out of Keswick but offering great views over the surrounding countryside with a beautiful backdrop of the fells behind.

Portinscale is ideally situated on the shores of Derwent...

Portinscale is ideally situated on the shores of Derwent Water with fantasic views of the lake and the fells. It is perfectly situated for a short walk into Keswick with all its facilities and public transport for access to the rest of the Lake District, or you can take the launch across the lake or catch the bus. From Portinscale there is easy access to walk around the lake and there are 2 Marinas for boating, canoeing and paddle boarding. The café is and lovely and covers a full range of meals at reasonable prices. It also sells a few essential catering essentials. There is a pub and hotel in the village which both serve food. The staff are all very friendly but as at April 24 both establishments require investment in facilities and food quality. The village of Braithwaite is also close , it has a small shop for provisions with 2 great pubs/hotels that are very popular for food.

Very nice area just outside the hubbub of Keswick.

Very nice area just outside the hubbub of Keswick. Great start point for bus, walking, cycling or car journeys. Is on a bus route and Cumbria trail way. Access to marine activities, walks and lake cruises Cafe, pub and hotel in village. Not forgetting coffee guy on path out of village to Keswick. Felt peacefull after a day’s activity.

The apartment was excellent value for money. It had everything you needed. It was clean, well maintained, lovely deep bath with bath mat, very comfortable bed, easy instructions for boiler and tv, kitchen with good equipment, quite, good location with parking facilities. I was very impressed with the standard and compared to other places I have stayed in Portinscale, it was by far the best one. Loved it. Owner was also very accommodating about parking my car and arriving at an earlier time.

Small cottage but well equipped and furnished. Easy parking for the Lake District and superbly situated both for walking into Keswick and exploring the Northern Lakes in general. Portinscale is a cracking little village and this is the perfect property, at a good price, for a family with a couple of younger children. Would definitely stay again.

Spacious accommodation, everything you would need on a self catering stay, fully equipped kitchen and everything well appointed. Full instructions provided in a manual and around the property to guide guests to best practice. Fabulous views and great location. Comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and choice of bath or shower was a bonus.
