We liked Poole a great deal as we were there during a festival of the sea event there was lots going on, with music and special exhibitions. Very vibrant. Walking friendly and well sited for other attractions nearby. We went on 'Jurassic coast and steam train' package which had been given to us as a Christmas present.

As the largest natural harbour in Europe you might imagine Poole to be a watery paradise - unfortunately it's very built up and you don't get a sense of the location from most of the town. However it's in easy reach (via the Sandbanks chain ferry) of the beautiful nature reserve of Studland bay, the Victorian resort of Swanage and the Dorset (jurassic) coastline stretching to the west. Not to mention Brownsea Island in the harbour. Sandbanks beach is clean and unspoilt with lifeguards on hand - and if you have the energy you can walk along the beach to Bournemouth. The New Forest is a stone's throw away and public transport via bus from Poole to the coast and inland is exceptionally good and easy to navigate.

The Quay was lovely with lots of individual character pubs.

The Quay was lovely with lots of individual character pubs. However, the road network, particularly in the vicinity of Poole Railway Station is an absolute shambles - and it's all new! Also, getting to Poole from M27/Southampton area is a disgrace. There is no outer ring-road for Bournemouth to take you round to Poole so you get stuck in the Ferndown area 'forever' The local council & Highways England need to get with this and sort it out.

Beautiful hotel and room. Hotel is in a quiet mainly residential area of town. The host Chris and all the staff at breakfast where friendly and helpful. Chris was available if needed also. Lovely continental breakfast. I didn’t have time to fully appreciate the location but I would say it almost perfect if you came for a short break or holiday because it is so close to the promenade and sea and I should imagine lovely walks to Bournemouth or Sandbanks and Poole.

I've dined at the hotel before but never stayed so was optimistic as it looks lovely at the bar/restaurant and imagined the rooms would be the same. I wasn't disappointed and would stay again when in the area. The entertainment around Poole Quay is also to be experienced.

For a holiday the Quay is definitely the best area to be, we really enjoyed it, apart from the weather. The hotel was much better than we were expecting! Bus stop right outside, we did a circular tour to Sandbanks, Swanage, Wareham and back to Poole.
