Comfy rooms with homemade shortbread, sherry, and fresh milk at the door in the morning. We were on a road trip but I would have loved to stay at least a second night at The Crown Inn! There is also a pub on the property that served the best fish & chips I had in my life. The scenery of the pub garden, with the village church's bell tower in the backdrop, was also uplifting. Would definitely come back.

A friendly, kwirky and very enjoyable experience. The owners and staff were all extremely helpful, lovely people who made our stay exceptional. An outstanding property that is well loved by its owners. A lot of thought and personalisation has been put into the property with some lovely touches. The food was spectacular, as was the service. We are looking forward to staying here again very soon.

The hotel is situated on a hill above the bay and offers a beautiful view of the whole area. We had a superior room with a fantastic view of the bay of Fowey and the sea. Our room was exceptionally well equipped, especially fine were the wonderful, huge bed and the spacious, bright bathroom, which also had a large window. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. One more note: the Negroni at the bar was also great! The whole village is exceptionally well-kept, there are lots of nice little shops, good restaurants/pubs and everything around was lush and green.

Incredible three night family holiday for grandparents, parents and 3yo child. Fowey Hall exudes luxury with very attentive staff; spacious comfortable rooms; excellent (and delicious) dining options; bars, cosy lounges and terraces with expansive views over the harbour and town. Our intergenerational family group felt very pampered, and our granddaughter declared it "the best holiday ever". Did I mention the kids club -- with a two hour free session each day; our tiny girl came back with art work, her face painted, and animal balloons, plus she'd made lots of new friends. She also loved story time (with mild and cookies); and the nightly movie with popcorn. To top it off, there are indoor and outdoor pools, and an adventure playground. We find that when our youngest family member is happily occupied, we're happy too!! We're already planning to come back next year for a repeat visit.

All meals were magnificent and well presented with locally sourced food available. The breakfasts were the best we have had with fantastic views and exemplary service by very friendly but professional staff. The housekeeping staff were so friendly and generously gave us information on sightseeing and local destinations to visit. Accommodation was very good with rooms sufficient in size with separate bathrooms. Security in the bedrooms was of a high standard. We required maintenance for a very minor matter and was fixed within minutes. Shout out to this staff member too, great customer service and personality. The spa, pool, sauna and wellness area was the highlight, excellent, very clean, quiet and most of all relaxing. Drinks available and the massages were exceptional. A stay at this resort was so invigorating and we left with great satisfaction and overwhelmed by the whole experience provided by the dedicated staff. Thanks for a truly wonderful stay and experience during our holiday in the UK.

    Be prepared for a ten minute hilly walk to the car park. Food at the local pubs isn’t great, get the ferry to fowey - takes five minutes and they run every 15 minutes. Get some shopping in before you go as local shop isn’t well stocked and wasn’t open on Sunday for us, shuts early too.

    All the roads to and from Polruan are predominantly single track roads. The location of property itself was elevated with spectacular estuary views towards Fowey. We found the Battery Park area to be quiet and peaceful at all times. The bungalow was well equiped and comfortable. Polruan was a lovely small fishing village however the trip to the local stores and water taxi are very steep and challenging for the faint hearted/elderly people. The local shop, bakery and tea rooms were all very good, and we found the locals were very approachable and happy to give directions and local advice etc. The water taxi to Fowey was an excellent service running both frequently and on time throughout the day and well into the evening. Fowey was a smashing little town with a good range of shops and places to eat in particular the grocery shops had lots of outstanding local produce on offer.

    Polruan needs another eating out option .

    Polruan needs another eating out option . You need to able to self cater as there is only the one pub serving food. Be aware of the step hills and steps We thought we were reasonably fit but it did get better over the 4 days. Fantastic location and of course the river never stops Loved it!!

    Off the beaten track - traditional, unspoilt and non commercialised Cornish village. Lovely friendly locals - great ferry service over to Fowey which has good choice of pretty decent restaurants and a selection of upmarket shops. Steep hill to get there and little parking at the harbour but good parking at the top of the hill with different pleasant walkways down to the bottom

    Polruan is a very historic fishing village with lots of lane...

    Polruan is a very historic fishing village with lots of lane and alleys to explore, and a working quay, with a shipyard and lots of boats coming and going. Part of it's charm is that it is very car-unfriendly, and you may have to park at the top of the hill in a carpark, so it's not a good base if you want to use your car a lot, but this makes it very nice to ramble around. The quay is a combination of industry and tourism, and can be noisy with welding from the shipyard. There are two sandy beaches in the town, both small, and they get covered at high tide. You can spend a pleasant evening with a pint and takeaway sitting on the quay and watching the world go by. There are two pubs, a sandwich/snack shop and a brilliant bakery. You can also walk along the coastal path or the estuary - Lantic Beach is an energetic couple of miles, and is a picturesque pebble beach. You can get the ferry over to Fowey and there are plenty of touristy shops and restaurants to explore there. We had two lovely meals at the Dwelling House in Fowey and Sams on the Beach in Polkerris.

    Lovely little village that's tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Pubs that serve food at the bottom of the hill, next to the harbour. A main village shop half way up the hill, post office next to the harbour too. Small beach area during low tide, ferry running daily between Polruan and Fowey and plenty of walks along the coast
