This is a beautiful gastropub with high quality accommodation. We stayed in a room with a small, private garden and it was all very well presented. The staff members were all helpful, professional and happy to have a chat with guests. The food was great and locally-sourced where possible. A fabulous place to stay in Pickering. My room was extremely comfortable with good facilities and bathroom. Luxurious linen and large towels with daily servicing of the room. The hostess couldn't be more friendly or hospitable, welcoming you as you arrive with a lovely pot of tea and biscuits and providing you with a cool drink when you return after a long hot day of sightseeing. Nothing is too much trouble for her as she takes great care of her guests. The back garden is a lovely restful and pretty retreat in the afternoon/early evening. The off-street parking situated inn the house grounds is a real bonus and I was also able to leave my car there after I checked out while I went to visit Pickering Castle. Breakfast is a real treat with lots of yummy options and a scrumptious cooked to order hot meal.

Pickering is the perfect town as a base for either walking on the moors or heading towards the coast - Whitby or Scarborough. The North York Moors railway and a great bus service makes getting around easy if you don't have a car.

The location of The Horseshoe Inn was ideal as we wanted to visit Scarborough, Eden Camp and Whitby and they were all within easy reach by car. We had three great days out and the weather was kind to us and perfect for sightseeing. Still lots that we want to see in and around this location so another visit is extremely likely.

Several pubs and restaurants to visit together with a familiar shopping street. The North york Railway always good to look around. Traffic can be a bottle neck at peak times, as with all of A61 villages on the route.

We loved the old manse, that stone building cottage feel, but also some mod cons like an ensuite. We found the ensuite was pretty small, so if you’re a big person you would struggle with it. However it was private, and was scrupulously clean.

A thoroughly enjoyable visit to The Old Manse. Parking was easy. An excellent base to explore the charming village of Pickering and the surrounding countryside in the Dales. A lovely building with great rooms. It was light, airy and very spacious, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served in the conservatory overlooking a beautiful garden.. a great way to start the day! The young lady who served us was very helpful and lovely and Val was a perfect Hostess. Thank you for a great stay.

Updated old building with a modern feel without compromising the old characteristics of the building. Staff were great and couldn’t do enough for you. The room was lovely and clean. In addition, breakfast was perfect with food being nice and fresh. Location of the hotel was more than ideal for me and my dad as we wanted somewhere close the North Yorkshire moors railway and near the shops of Pickering as well and this lovely hotel met those needs.

Very welcoming, and bike friendly. Accommodated our need to clean our muddy cycles. Hotel near some quiet cycle routes to avoid the main road to Pickering. Breakfast was good and included fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast which could be adapted to our needs (one dairy free diet).
