Everything. From the moment you walk into this beautiful quaint pub you feel relaxed and st home, which is helped by the smiles and interaction that greets you from the Malene and the bar staff. The free flow and relaxed feel to have that balance of being a guest but feeling your part of the place with no questions asked or hinted. We got shown to our room and were very lucky and honoured to be their first guests. The pictures sell it anyway but once you are there it is unreal. The detail, care and mix of unique modern design mixed with that rustic, country feel is beautiful and spreads through the pub, guest rooms and the restaurant. Once you have your keys you are free to come and go as you please, even when certain ares are closed or on breaks. Marlene and Nigel are always on hand if you need something but you also don't notice they are around as gave there own busy lives and schedules running it all. Nothing is to much hassle and they just want you to have the best stay possible, business scripts and formalities take a back seat and you are their friends as well as respecting them as the owners and a business. Parking is easy and plenty of options right outside, even free a lot of the time. The pub atmosphere is everything you want it to be, you can have your quiet relaxed village feel with a chilled drink, or a buzzy wkend evening where everyone comes and goes for food and drinks. The restaurant and pub serve the best food in which you will need to book as very popular. Such fresh ingredients cooked to a high standard with their own unique style, you can see why it's so popular. The best and most food I have had in a long time. We had dinner and breakfast and I could not fault a thing. All the staff are proffesional but fun and have personality which is important to connect as more than a guest. Mainly what you want is a great sleep, greet food, a great shower and cleanliness.

We had the best couple of days spent here. The place is gorgeous, full of history. And the people there are absolutely lovely. The location is stunning, with wild Dartmoor ponies running around, spectacular aurora views from the room, and delicious food. We loved the trip. We are so glad that we chose this place for our special occasion.

Settled in the Dartmoor national park, it is a very quiet and comforting get away. You can have a short walk with children from there as well as long ones. Plenty of nice activities in the hotel (boardgames, crocket, tennis, walks). The place is full of charm and history. The staff is extremely kind and efficient. They made the stay easy for a single parent, offering private dining. The kids menu was varied, delicious and decently priced. The restaurant was a treat for me as well.

It is an old coach house, architecturally interesting, with quirky stairs and halls that wind around. The location is right across from St Michael the Archaengel church with a view from the restaurant (where a real chef prepares gourmet English food with local produce)

Small country town with character. an excellent starting point for a holiday in Devon, Dartmoor on the doorstep and other parts of Devon not too far away. In our one overnight stay we got unsolicited help from a young lad and an older man ... a friendly place! Great meal at the Union Inn.

Moretonhampstead is a nice old market town with a good deli and butchers and a couple of nice places to eat. It also has some interesting medieval alms houses and a good art gallery next to the church. It has a walk/cycle path that connects it to pretty villages not far away.

The village was well situated for sightseeing with easy access to Exeter and the Cathedral . It also had lovely farmhouse and garden centers within easy drive. Bodmin was easily accessible and surrounding villages . The White hart Inn was very quaint and perfect if you are looking for something homely. The rooms were very warm at night and unfortunately we couldn't control the temperature . The resturant for an evening meal was slightly more expensive than we expected but the food was good. Breakfast offered a really good choice but would of liked to have seen fresh fruit on offer .Overall we had a lovely 2 night stay and was made to feel very welcomed by the friendly staff ..

We were staying over the new year, so many shops were closed, but we knew the town previously. It is a town with an interesting history, particularly Mortenhampstead-born George Bidder! Later in the year it can be a bustling place with many visitors as a gateway to Dartmoor, there is also great places to visit from the town.

Lovely lively little town with great amenities. Ideal location to explore Dartmoor and Devon's south coast. A nice town with a life outside tourism. The White Hart Inn is a great place to stay. A wonderful butcher shop in the town. Motor Museum worth a visit.

Sue catered for our requirement of a vegan breakfast. She cooked ours first so as to avoid contamination. She was so friendly and accommodating, so much better than a hotel as the stay is so much personalised. Andy unfortunately wasn’t well but that did not deter from the experience. Hope he gets better and see you next time! Although the buses are not always around, Richard who lives in the town is great taxi option and is also great and kind. I totally recommend this place. The people are lovely!

Perfect location, in the centre of Moretonhampstead, though with that come some traffic noise from early in the morning. Opposite the Co-op which was very convenient. Two or three local coffee shops where you can have breakfast as this is not available at the Horse. The room (n2) was very well decorated and the bed large and comfortable. Bathroom was large and with an excellent shower.
