We are a couple who have been travelling around the UK for over a month. Our stay in this hotel gave us the most enjoyable accommodation we have experienced. The staff were universally helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was superb. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked very well.

We stayed here 19 years ago, and decided to return. Everything was exactly the same as previous. The accommodation is extremely well kept and maintained to a high standard. It's slightly smaller than "The Pend" next door but the kitchen in The Precinct House" is stunning with a large Electric Aga which I've loved cooking on. Shower room/Toilet is very neat and tidy. And upstairs both bedrooms are beautifully decorated. We will go back a little bit sooner next time.

I took the opportunity to visit lots of Prehistoric sites...

I took the opportunity to visit lots of Prehistoric sites but ran out of time to go to the beach. Shops were scarce but there was a little shop in Port William and another in Wigtown. Right to roam is wonderful and seems to work well in this area. I only encountered one dog and that was on a sheep farm.
