Lovely cottage with living room bedroom and bathroom, all very well thought out, very comfortable, underfloor heating and heated towel rail in bathroom, so very cosy. Wi-fi worked well. Kitchen well equipped for a short stay, efficient oven and 2 ring induction hob, microwave oven, etc. Also washing machine, although we did not need it. Lovely view of pond with geese and ducks and then the dale beyond, so very peaceful. It is on the edge of a big racing yard, which is very much typical of this village and area. Only a short quiet walk to the village centre, with the castle and various pubs. The hosts had thought to leave us a pint of milk, tea bags, biscuits, walks books and local information. They were very responsive to our only slight problem (lack of a second bedroom side light which was immediately provided). Middleham is a pleasant village, and within easy reach of all the Dales area - beautiful countryside all around.

This is character inn in the centre of Middleham. Has a lively atmosphere, with a good mix of people, without any posh tossers. Food was tasty and not expensive. Best thing about it was the staff who were truly exceptional. The cook prepared us something outside of regular hours, the barman offered to come in early to prepare breakfast if we needed an early start, and the floor manager was always ready to help. Prices were excellent. I’ve often paid more for less. We stayed three nights and every morning we watched horses and riders going through town. Small town charm, with Yorkshire hospitality. Thank you all!

This old coaching house hotel is wonderful. The location is ideal for exploring the Yorkshire Dale's. We had the best ever experience, with a free room upgrade for my wife's birthday. Our room was massive , tastefully decorated, with probably the biggest and best bathroom I have seen in a hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean. The Georgian coaching house / pub is so lovely, with old stone floors and open fires. The evening meal was top notch, and the breakfast was superb. The staff were all friendly, and if we were in the area again, we would definitely book the Blue Lion.

Sarah and Chris were lovely hosts and the room, breakfast etc was exactly what we were hoping for. We would definitely recommend the priory and the village of Middleham to anyone looking for a cosy short break away.

This spot is a little gem of a find!

This spot is a little gem of a find! We enjoyed our stay so much and felt pampered by the staff and facilities the entire time. Such a beautiful surroundings and grounds. We enjoyed our stay very much---would highly recommend!

Only an overnight stay but in a short walk round we found many places of interest and surrounding area is beautiful. We would like to revisit to go round Richard III castle and see the Forbidden Corner.

Beautiful views and walks Friendly people Great pubs And got to see lots of race horses I would highly recommend the Coverbridge Inn that you can walk along the river to probably about 2 miles away. This pub is friendly and a traditional pub with great ales and delicious home cooked food

Picturesque little market village with the added interest of...

Picturesque little market village with the added interest of several race horse stables in the location. A walk up to the gallops early in the morning to watch the horses train is definitely worthwhile, as is a visit to the medieval castle.

Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun.

Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun. We had a light lunch at the cafe on site, which was nicely presented. Evening meal was taken at the Three Horseshoes which was about a 15 minute drive away. Called in at Aysgarth Waterfalls on the way home the following day. The Forbidden Corner was very busy as it was the school holidays, however as visits are timed, I think this helps when planning a visit.

Super location in the centre of Middleham. There isn’t a car park but we didn’t have any problem parking our motorbikes close the the hotel. We had a lovely room on the front which looked like it had recently been refurbished. Really comfy bed. It is a pub downstairs so there is a bit of noise until closing. We live on a busy road so it didn’t bother us at all. Great to see the race horses going through the town in the morning.

Absolutely loved our weekend break at the Annexe. The host Hayley has thought of everything and the accommodation inside and out if beautiful. 10/10 from us and we have booked to go back in June. Scenic and peaceful location. Close walking distance to the centre of Middleham. Loved the castle!
