I was on the University Campus for all of my trip. If I came again for a similar event I would go to alternative accommodation close to the University I stayed on campus for convenience. I missed having a television and a light in the evening to read by not just the one main light in the room

Loads to do if you've got plenty of money. Very historic.

Loads to do if you've got plenty of money. Very historic. Castle is a tour guide only which put us off. City museum is £8pa. Restaurants are all super expensive. There are no cheapy cafes to get breakfast or toast. Mobile data performance is dreadful, very poor. Loads of good pubs though. Okay for a short break. Any longer and you'll be bankrupt.

Its very sad how the town has continued to decline.

Its very sad how the town has continued to decline. Pubs shut, shops dominated by pop ups, charity stores etc. The council demolished the market many vears ago and there is no longer a heart to the town. Gateway to the Lakes and home to the massively expanded Lancaster University there doesnt seem to be much else to reccomend it on a wet October day.

Lovely, historic city with plenty to see.

Lovely, historic city with plenty to see. Compact city centre and easy to walk to all of the main attractions. The castle is highly recommended. Forest of Bowland National Landscape is easy access from Lancaster, has beautiful scenery and well worth a visit.

Some impressive old buildings in the city centre, and a lively shopping area without the (sad) usual proportion of empty shops. With more time, we would visit the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales (both of which we know and appreciate well) and Bowland, which is unexplored territory for us and conveniently close. Looking forward to re-visiting our granddaughter and perhaps in spring/summer showing her some of these places.

Great location for visiting the University of Lancaster. We extended our stay to make it a mini break and visit the local area, not far from the coast and the lake district. Lancaster Castle was well worth a visit and Williamson Gardens were beautiful. The property was very clean, the carpets are new throughout. There were all the facilities you could need. We could park easily outside the property even though it is a terraced street.

Country style hotel in middle of Lancaster close to railway station. Room was very clean and comfortable. Good selection of "pub grub" style food available in bar. Price-wise was very reasonable, though breakfast is extra. All the staff were very friendly.

The hotel was very clean. The room was basic, but we only needed a base to sleep. The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. We will definitely stay again when we visit friends in Lancaster.

Cute little cottage in quiet area close to university. We chose it over a hotel as it has cooking facilities and a bit more space. The communication from the hosts was excellent.
