Harleston is a small town with a lot of history around and about. All the shops are small individual outlets with none of the big chains. A bit of a step back in time. For eating there is a selection of pubs in the town and locally. There is also an excellent Indian restaurant.

An historical place, interesting old buildings, good walks nearby, friendly locals, good food at the J D Young restaurant, an artisan chocolate shop, lakes for fishing nearby, cycling. Easy reach of Norwich and it's shops, cathedral, castle.

Harleston is a compact town with some good period buildings.

Harleston is a compact town with some good period buildings. And has a few pubs centrally. A trendily refurbished hotel/pub JD?. The unspoilt old Swan Hotel/pub. And a minimalist craft beer orientated pub in the centre as well A 10 minute walk away I was intrigued to see a Japanese restaurant, Momiji. I ate there and its well worth a visit for a very different menu in a laid back atmosphere. I'd definitely go again

To be fair we didn't spend much time in Harleston.

To be fair we didn't spend much time in Harleston. We just used it as a base to visit relatives who live nearby and to explore the broader area. It therefore met our needs perfectly and was good value.

Excellent town with lots of character.

Excellent town with lots of character. Fine old Georgian and older buildings. Lots of different shops and bakeries. Some twee shops and some for essentials. Nice walks around. Bit of a market on Wednesday. Couple of really nice pubs with decent beer that we found - JD Youngs and the Cap. Can quite easily get to other picturesque towns nearby.

My room (number 2, double) was amazing! I had not paid too close attention when I booked for one night on a walking trip (Angles' Way, right on the route) so I didn't realise I'd be spending that night in a cleverly modernised suite in a historic building. Exposed oak beams, fireplace, huge bed, seating and dining areas, warm, looked out over the high street. Could have been a boutique hotel in London ... but there it would cost ten times more. Host was very friendly and helpful too.

Ideal location in the centre of Harleston. We received a friendly and efficient welcome and were in our room quickly. The room was just as we expected. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom. We had an evening meal in the hotel and we and two quests all enjoyed our food. Breakfast was served to our order rather than a buffet. It was served quickly and was good. All the staff were friendly and helpful

What we loved about this property was the opportunity to stay in a Grade II listed building that is oozing with character reflecting its near 500 year history. The location in the centre of Harleston is perfect.
