Hanmer is a tiny village lost in time; it has a large mere for wild swimming and woodland walk; the handsome ancient church is open daily and the view down its churchyard towards the Mere is a delight. If visiting after dark, take a torch as there is limited street lighting which all adds to the charm. We ate in the Hanmer Arms for breakfasts and evening meal, both using quality products and well prepared.
