Our 4th Stay at the Wonderful The Hedgehog innkeeper my husband and I annually stay here , traveling from Switzerland home to Staffordshire … I can honestly say “it’s like home from home!!!” The staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, always smiling, happy and working SO hard!! including the hard working housekeeping team. our room was AMAZING.. so much space!!! comfy mattress … immaculate bedding.. flat screen tv and complimentary beverages. we dined with family in the restaurant, perfectly placed on the plate and the palate I have to say great size portions OUTSTANDING food & breakfast !!! fabulous cosy vibe, snug and warm with the fire place lit we’ll see you again this year ☺️ tiny hint … wished the rooms had a cool box or mini fridge would be amazing + for storing fresh milk 😉)

The property was amazing, as soon as we walked in the first thing we all said was “I could live here”. The location is right next to the high street which worked out perfect for me on NYE as I was gigging at The Kings Head Pub which is next door to the apartment. Both rooms are spacious, modern and the beds were soo comfy. Bathrooms were also beautiful and water pressure with the showers were spot on. It felt like we found a hidden gem and it did not disappoint. The food basket on arrival was a nice touch and the host Sam was very accommodating and easy going to speak with. We will be back again.

I’ve never left a review on booking.com however with this place I would love to. where to begin - I knew it was a lovely place to stay in looking at the pictures but in person it was even more amazing. Everything is so clean, and everything looks brand new. I told suzy I was coming with my partner and it was his birthday, and the room was decorated beautifully - there was even a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us on arrival. Very generous indeed. You can tell hosts really care about making your stay perfect. It has everything you need and more, everything has been thought of e.g lovely supply of coffee / tea breakfast items and utensils. If you forget to bring something with you, you can almost guarantee it is here. There are also snacks. The design of the suite is outstanding and the bathroom / wetroom is beautiful. The bed is huge and so comfy, had a lovely nights sleep. I really recommend staying here if you are visiting Hoar Cross Hall for a spa day / night as it is an 8 minute drive there, which is what we did. There was no problem booking an uber even with how remote it was. We are looking at visiting the spa again in summer time and we will DEFINITELY be booking to stay here again. The property as a whole is breathtaking, and there is no noise from cars / people. I really think it is great value for money as you are getting a huge bedroom, amazing bathroom and so much storage space with gorgeous modern furniture compared to paying the same for a tiny hotel room. Thank you so much Suzy for letting us stay and for your generosity what a fab suite and a fab host ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    We chose to stay here whilst attending an event at the National Memorial Arboretum, just a 15-minute drive away. It is a rural village so is accessible via a short single track road and aside from the Shoulder of Mutton, no other facilities but what else would you need for a quiet relaxing stay

    The room was very clean and spacious with good facilities. The shower had a good water supply and amenities. There was a tea and coffee tray which included hot chocolate sachets. The breakfast which was included in the price of the room was excellent very good choice of hot and cold items. Our grandson is lactose intolerant and they provided lactose free milk which was very kind. Lovely kind and helpful staff and very friendly villagers in the pub when we arrived I definitely recommend this accomodation you won't be disappointed 😊

    Beautiful little village.

    Beautiful little village. We didn't have time to stay and see anything other than the immediate vicinity of the pub, but it is very pretty and the staff gave us masses of information about the history of the pub and the neighbouring houses. The pub food was delicious, and an excellent menu that covers meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. We'll definitely be back!

    The village is well off the beaten track but not actually...

    The village is well off the beaten track but not actually very far from it. There is very little through traffic and only around 300 residents, so it is blissfully tranquil, and you soon rejoice at the amazing birdsong which abounds. The pub itself is everything a village pub should be. The three real-ale cask pumps served a village brew, a golden ale from Salopian, and Marston's pedigree from nearby Burton-on-Trent, Britain's Beer Capital. But it is NOT just for beer buffs. The wine selection is excellent - I had a delicious Barolo, a delicate Sancerre and some very quaffable Malbec at the lower end of the price scale. The pub seems to work its magic on all its customers as well as the staff, with everyone happy to have a chat, give advice or, if you would rather, leave you in peace. The sizeable pub garden has some play equipment for children and an outdoor skittles alley. It is surrounded by open farmland. I have praised the very high standards of the rooms, food, staff, and amenities, in my main review. This is the place to pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and re-charge your batteries. I imagine it would be very romantic as well for those in a romantic disposition.

    Warm and friendly welcome, breakfast to die for, food good, beer great. Comfy warm room. Good parking. Area great for local attractions such as Lichfield cathedral and The National Memorial Arboretum.
