This was the best stay we had during our honeymoon trip to Scotland. Right from the start, we were surprised with a thoughtful and sweet gesture: a beautifully arranged wooden board with sweets waiting for us in our room, which we truly savoured and appreciated. A big shout-out to the amazing Brazilian staff – Caio, Lucas, Marcelo, Peterson, and Millane – who made our experience even more special with their great recommendations and the warm Brazilian hospitality we love. The hotel itself is excellent – very clean, with parking, comfortable rooms, impeccable service, and amazing food. The view is a real highlight: a stunning landscape of the Highlands mountains, including Ben Nevis, right on the edge of the loch.

Stunning scenery and an interesting visitor center although we would have liked more information about how the people lived here in times gone by and about the Glencoe massacre. There was also a clear lack of toilets for the number of people visiting and the gift shop was more expensive than others we've been too. A walk around nearby Bllaculish and the remains of the quarry also added a little interest to the area. The gift shop had a range of items from cards to childrens toys to souvenirs that seemed a little more reasonably priced.

Glencoe has a very small downtown, but the real draw is the beautiful country side surrounding it which is absolutely stunning. We would recommend a visit to the Glencoe visitor center which has a nice cafe, shop and a movie room which is worth attending (20 minute video on Glencoe and its fascinating history) - a great primer for your subsequent explorations of the beautiful countryside.

Glencoe is outstanding to visit. Many walks, many views.

Glencoe is outstanding to visit. Many walks, many views. We spent £17.50 each on the chairlift up the Glencoe mountain. All other walks, views, attractions we attended were free. I was fascinated by the history. The Glencoe massacre. Water, mountains, woodlands. There is nothing to not like. We went to Steall Waterfall, Three Sisters, Glencoe mountain resort, visitor centre, Glencoe monument and stopped at numerous viewpoints everywhere.

We spent 2 days in Glen Coe, in the heart of the mountains, outside of Fort William. Arriving from the south we had a fabulous drive through the height of the mountains, and enjoyed the Glen Coe visitor center for their historical displays, gift shop and recommendations re local hiking trails, and places to eat. We appreciated that this is a very undeveloped, yet stunningly beautiful area with just the right amount of places to see and enjoy for a 2 day stay if you like an leisurely experience re all that an area has to offer. Just beyond the area, be sure to take the Gondola ride to the top of Ben Nevis, Scotland's highest mountain. There is a good cafe at the top to take in the views, see mountain bikers ride the trails and take a walk on nearby paths.

When we arrived at the accommodation there was no mat in the bathroom. That was fine. We just used a small hand towel as a mat. The next day, the owner of the hostel put the towel from the floor next to the clean ones. They had touched. When I asked for a new one, he said I could have a new one, but he did not believe that there had been any cross contamination. Absolutely disgusting. He should have left the room as it was. Normally in the hotel business, a hand towel on the floor is replaced with a new, clean one.

The Hollytree is a 'network' hotel. It aims to meet your expectations, not to exceed them. The Holytree of Glencoe did just that. The location is excellent, Close to famous Glencoe, and the highlands, on the shore of Loch Linnhe. It has a picturesque Jetty and the view from the room (and the restaurant) was magnificent. Staff was very helpful (thank you, Madelene), food was decent and more. We enjoyed a lot. Thumbs up.
