FAQs about hotels in Glasgow

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

Glasgow is a fantastic vibrant city to enjoy.

Glasgow is a fantastic vibrant city to enjoy. Please don't use booking.com Or ibis hotel group. If you cancel you cancel you hotel 5 days prior, have email confirmation from hotel via email of a cancellation. You may be still charged, like I was, then the process of trying "to OBTAIN" your own money back, with no apology for doing so, . Glasgow is a fabulous city, fully of diversity in living, culture, historic and cutting edge idea's. Food, things to do, leisure, arts, science and many more are in abundance. Just don't use booking.com or ibis.

Glasgow has a sense of humour.

Glasgow has a sense of humour. There's always something funny happening if you look around! The people may seem forward, but give them a moment and you'll realise it's genuine friendliness. A complete stranger will strike up a conversation or just share some funny observation with you, then continue past as if they have known you forever. The murals, posters and signs show what a rich, varied and humorous culture there is here. Dont be afraid of Glasgow, there are so many beautiful places to see, like Kelvingrove, the cathedral, the ancient university, Glasgow green, the necropolis. There are wonderful theatres, galleries and amazing museums that are free. There is so much live music, even just walking down Sauchiehall street you will meet an amazing guitarist busking, or the wee old man with the raving robotic cats. I once saw Santa outside the Hard Rock cafe tying his shoelaces on a Harley Davidson. The Asian restaurants are amazing, the curry is insane. Transport is very good and actually driving around the city centre isn't too terrifying, drivers are pretty courteous and patient (some of the road layouts confuse natives too). There may be empty shops but there are still plenty of full ones from designer to wonderful treasure troves of independent stores. Glasgow has had a bad rap, and to be honest, some streets could do with a good clean (and rebuild sometimes), but I see signs of investment and better days to come. In the meantime, I will still enjoy every weekend I get a chance to be in Glasgow, because people make it :)

Glasgow is a great city with friendly people.

Glasgow is a great city with friendly people. The West End side is lovely, with excellent art galleries and museums and architecture. The Kelvingrove Park is lovely, I did a Street Art Tour which was very interesting.

Glasgow is a great friendly historic city, bursting with it's own culture with plenty to see and do, and it does not take it too seriously. You will enjoy, and take a brolly, some gloves and a jumper or two.

Glasgow - Big, beautiful and busy. Great places to eat.

Glasgow - Big, beautiful and busy. Great places to eat. Lots to do - great shopping, great exhibitions and very good transport links, although we walked everywhere which was easy to do as we felt safe in the streets, and the grid system makes it simple to find your way.

Great city, plenty to see and do. Easy to walk around. Hotel in perfect location, have used many times, would recommend. If you going to OVO or Hydro for concert, this hotel is ideal, you can walk to the venue.

The location was very central and within easy walking of the many pubs, cafes and restaurants within Glasgow City Centre. My brother and I were on a football weekend and visiting Scottish friends and they travelled in to Queens Street Station which was a short walk away from the Hotel. We were running at a local Parkrun on Saturday morning so asked for a quiet top floor room and this request was provided. The staff were friendly and although we did not request breakfast the meals provided within the restaurant in the Evening were excellent.

The host was lovely. The apartment was very centrally located and within a walking distance to Glasgow city centre. I stayed with my family and the kids loved the balcony in the living room which is also secure. Well equipped kitchen and a well decorated property throughout. We travel to Glasgow a lot to see family, and we will definitely be booking this apartment again. The bonus for us is the free parking and the smart TV. Kids loved watching Disney and netflix which is not common in even thnicest hotels these days.

Great location, right in the centre of Glasgow. Because of the location in the city centre you do get the usual noises, car and shop alarms going off all night and general city, and because the hotel is on top of the station there was the station and train announcements from early morning to late at night but we heard nothing on the inside and got a great nights sleep.
