Lovely place, perfect for a stop over!

Lovely place, perfect for a stop over! Very quiet location and pretty. The food was really good for the price and I’ve had worse meals at much more expensive meals out recently. The staff were really helpful and so kind with a situation we had before attending a wedding nearby. Thank you so much!!! :) the toilet seat in the bathroom in our room needed tightening a bit and the water pressure is low but that was my only criticism.

Where it is situated , it is good for Weardale and Teesdale ,Hadrians Wall to Yorkshire Dales and only 45 minutes drive to the coast at Teeside. Even went for an Eye Test at Barnard Castle which was only 40 minutes away.

Although I was working, this hotel is brilliantly placed for exploring the Durham countryside and isn't far from the city or the coast. Staff were super friendly and answered any questions. I didn't eat dinner there, but breakfast was really good. Parking was easy and safe, with the possibility of parking right outside the rooms.

Photos don't do this lovely cottage justice.

Photos don't do this lovely cottage justice. It is exceptionally clean and lovely welcome by hosts. Great location and walking distance to excellent restaurants/pubs. I would highly recommend to anyone. It was so lovely that I wish we could have stayed longer!! Favourite pub: Duke of York. Close to lots of lovely walks and a range of activities in the dales.

This is a great place to stay. Excellent value for money with a superb breakfast included. We ate in the restaurant, the night we arrived, and it was very good pub food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, I would definitely stay again.

Well equipped kitchen with Fridge and freezer available so get some shopping on the way. Lovely big range with gas hob and all equipment. Large dining table ideal for big family breakfasts before heading off to explore the area. Helpful hosts nearby if needed. We loved the spacious layout of the cottage and stylish furnished rooms . Ideal for big family gatherings. We were 8 people and 2 of us slept on the sofa bed which was very comfortable. Would highly recommend.
