We love the architecture and history.

We love the architecture and history. There is so much to see and do. We were disappointed to see so much graffiti in the city and the streets were not very clean. We could have had a few more days so we could have toured the castle, the palace, and hike Arthur’s Seat. The countryside is absolutely beautiful. We took 4 tours and enjoyed each one.

Great city for 3-4 days vacation. You have a feeling that you time traveled into the past. Many nice things too see and buy. And the food is excellent - I recommend Filling Station. Take a train to Glasgow and Stirling if you have enough time.

There is plenty to do and a very wide choice of places to eat. I would definitely recommend planing your visit and checking the opening times for the sites as some close at 3:30. The buses are a great way to get around but make sure you note the bus number and company. An all day pass is the best idea

Beautiful city to explore on foot, unusual mix of architecture & natural wonders for good weather, castle/palace/galleries too. Spoilt for choice to eat & drink, loads to see further out with easy bus/tram system

So much to do and see, surrounded by history and bustling with activity. We loved the restaurants and bars on Rose Street, especially Meze Meze (Mediteranean food, extra friendly staff). We stayed in Haymarket at Grosvenor Gardens, which was very close to the tram directly to and from the airport.) Edinburgh has great public transit all around, use it to get outside of the main tourist areas to take in the rest of this beautiful Scottish city.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with marvelous buildings, houses, Parks etc. It has been extremely well maintained. They cherish the past, and go to long lengths to keep it original and in good condition. I expect the attractions are worth a look, but if you go, you MUST book before hand. If you go, you must also prepare yourself for Tourist, Tourists and more Tourists, they (We) were everywhere, hundreds of thousands of us, everywhere. I walked up hill to see the castle, and when I arrived puffed out, all I could see was People, People and more People. And a sign which read 'SOLD OUT TODAY' This was about Lunch Time. Mind you, there was plenty else to see, and well worth the walk uphill to the castle, so I was a little disappointed, but what else I saw was great. Apart from the Crowds (which is great for the economy and the business owners), the only thing that annoyed me, but it is understandable when you find out why, Is that there are beautiful very old parks which look lovely-from the street-. Only residents can use some of them (there are Locked Gates at certain points with Keys Locks which the residents have keys of course) and to find out why, you'll have to go to Edinburgh to find out (or Google it if you want to cheat).

The location is perfect when you want to explore the city centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast is a buffet where you can find croissants, muffins, all different types of drinks, eggs, bacon and sausages, to summarize a full breakfast. They do vegetarian options as well. The staff was very helpful. If you drive to the hotel, there is a parking nearby. There was a daily discount offered by the hotel. I definitely recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Royal Mile Hotel.

Stunning hotel with great leisure facilities and swimming pool, set amidst beautiful parkland and a golf course. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were of a very high standard. Access to central Edinburgh was very straightforward, via the park and ride car park a few miles from the hotel. Great value for money, compared to city centre hotels.

Lovely hotel with great service from attentive and friendly staff. Perfect location for visiting edinburgh. Tram right next to hotel. Surrounding restaurants and bars are wonderful. Quiet relaxed environment. Perfect after the vibrance of the city centre. Have enjoyed many city breaks to Edinburgh. And the Malmaison is now our favourite spot For all the right reasons.

There are several room options. We choose one with a private bathroom. It's small but has everything to sleep and shower and has free parking outside making it relatively cheap for the city. There's good bus links right outside and it takes about 20-30 mins to most city centre locations. It's best for people looking for a stop off point to go out in Edinburgh

The location for exploring Edinburgh was excellent with good parking. There was a bus stop directly outside the Hotel which was served by several bus numbers that went straight to the city centre. We were so busy we didn't have time to try the hotel swimming pool!
