Cowes for me is the gateway to the Isle of Wight.

Cowes for me is the gateway to the Isle of Wight. East Cowes is where the vehicle ferry arrives and departs and there is more parking on this side than in the main town which is a chain ferry ride away. If you are a nautical person and enjoy the sea and everything that goes on in it this is a mecca for you.

East Cowes isn't really a tourist area, it is mostly residential. It's ideal for a base if you have your own transport, and don't mind driving round the island. The good thing is if you are sailing with Red Funnel, you are literally only just up the road. Waitrose, a doctors surgery and 2 pharmacies are all nearby, as is Osborne (Queen Victoria's island home). I think Osborne is the only nearby tourist attraction. I found East Cowes to be very quiet. Ideal after a long day exploring and having fun. However, if you want to stay right in the middle of things, you will be disappointed.

We were only there for 2 days, went to Obourne House and the Steam Railway, really enjoyed both. Also walked along the prom at Shanklin Beach. We are in PREGO (Italian Reastraunt in East Cowes), very good food at reasonable prices. Ate in 1 day, take away the next, both lovely

There is really nothing in East Cowes, however it is a 2 min ferry ride to Cowes. The ferry goes every few mins, either foot passenger or car. No booking needed. The ferry puts you in the middle of town. Highly recommend to stay in East Cowes and ferry to Cowes. Far less expensive.

An easy walk down to the waterfront.

An easy walk down to the waterfront. Take the floating bridge {chain ferry} across to Cowes. Lovely little town to walk around. Good pub called The Lifeboat within walking distance of the Prince of Wales, good food and great view of the boats.

The location is very quiet and peaceful, and yet close to the famous landmark Osborne House, within walking distance. The room was neat and comfy, with all amenities and facilities present. It was very nice to find complimentary toiletries and coffee/tea as well as closet space and a hair dryer available. The owner was very friendly and helpful, shared lots of useful tourist information about traveling and sightseeing not only locally in East Cowes, but also all around Isle of Wight. Would definitely recommend for someone else to stay!

The boat is beautifully restored and tastefully decorated; a real gem. Everything was very clean and lovingly cared for. We loved hearing the water lapping at the hull as we rested and waking up to see gulls, cormorants and egrets. Sam thoughtfully left us some unexpected extras in the kitchen which was a thoughtful and generous touch. We would definitely stay here again - much more fun than a hotel or a B&B.

Location was close to ferry port in East Cowes, great facilities that would support a longer stay including a very spacious utility room. Comfortable furnishings. Local corner shop nearby open till 10pm.
