Darwen is my home town so it would have been nice to stay a little longer in order to catch up with a few more friends and family. This is the first time we have stayed at The Whitehall but it won’t be the last. We were made to feel so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the short time we spent there.

The breakfasts were a farce , no supervision of staff , a manager was no where to be seen. They ran out of several basics and the food on the buffet was stewed and dried up. No bowls and the waitress thought muesli was the same as granola. Fawty towers springs to mind!!!!

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff.

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Our standard room with bathroom was absolutely fine, really clean and with all facilities, but a little small, should have booked a bigger room. Nice bar and lounge area. Lovely terrace and gardens, had it been summer.

The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not.

The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not. Careful driving is needed and a small car a good thing. Unusually though, it has a train station right below it (request stops) so you wouldn't need to travel by car. Dogs are very well catered for.

Beautiful house, every little detail was perfect and pristine clean. The living room was very spacious. We were in Darwen to visit family, and they came over and spent the evening together catching up. The terrace was lovely, overlooking the grazing field for sheep. Jude, our host, was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely return the next time I'm back visiting my family.

The breakfast was freshly cooked. The staff worked very hard for their guests and were happy to help with any requests. The bedding was good quality along with the towels. It was clean and comfortable the lounge and bar areas had good seating to just sit and relax. The hotels situation felt secure and welcoming.

Although quiet and isolated it is within easy reach of Bolton and Darwen. The railway station right outside could be useful for travel further afield without the car. The walks around the reservoir are very pleasant. The breakfast is very good as is the restaurant. All round a very pleasant place to stay.

Hotel room was lovely , staff very friendly. Only practical issue was breakfast was quite cramped as the hotel was full , and wedding guests from previous night did not have a dedicated room to sit together for breakfast - which would have been nice.
