Dartmouth is a lovely place to stay, and also handy for trips on the River Dart. There is also a scenic steam railway across the estuary in Kingswear which will take you to Paignton. The ferries were very efficient but essential to get about. We had a very nice meal at a reasonable price at Browns bistro. We can thoroughly recommend the tagine. Dartmouth is an absolutely stunning place to stay – full of charm and character, with so much to see and do. The location is beautiful, nestled on the river with amazing views and plenty of boats to watch as they come and go. There are lots of lovely independent shops, cosy cafés, and excellent restaurants to explore, all within easy walking distance. One of the highlights was the scenic walk along the river to Dartmouth Castle, perched on the headland with breathtaking views. Very friendly and kind people, always ready to help with directions, etc. Good mix of restaurants and pubs suited for all budget types. Quiet location, although next to a car park which did not disturb us in any way. There is no car parking near the cottage, although as said before, you will find plenty of spaces nearby. The cottage itself was clean beyond belief with all you need for a self-catering property. It is an excellent property for two people who want to see all that Dartmouth has to offer.
