Didn't have breakfast as had family nearby. However we loved the restaurant for meeting up with friends/family in the area and the carvery was excellent. As was the menu, choice of drinks and staff were so friendly and appraochable. Loved having a bath - absolute luxury!

The ambience. After a bit of a scary moment and a few kerfuffles here and there, the staff and the manager were just the kindest and the sweetest. They cared about my soloness and accommodated me above and beyond. It's not the Ritz, but it was very close as far as the care and attention was concerned. The room was cozy and the lighting great. Beds comfy and decor fancy and thoughtful (depending on room)! Fridge and microwave a bonus. Clean towels and bedding. The balcony is great with views of Clacton pier and the lights if you get those rooms. But mostly the kindness of the staff was the winning point especially the Boss. I felt safe after feeling unsafe because locks do need to be put on porch doors as terraces are very close to eachother and that's important I think if you're travelling solo. I had a fab time though. A very memorable experience.

What guests said about Clacton-on-Sea:

Very under rated resort.

Very under rated resort. We tend to visit a friend who lives in the area out of season. There is still plenty to do and the beach side walks and gardens are excellent. The Greensward cafe near the Martello tower is a favourite place for breakfast and you can let breakfast go down with a game of crazy golf on the course next to the cafe. Newroz Kitchen on Rosemary Rd is an excellent Turkish restaurant where we like to visit each time we go to Clacton. There are all the usual seaside activities that will keep everyone occupied.

Though Clacton on Sea like many British sea side towns needs some rejuvenation and investment. It still holds some of its old school charm. Plenty to do in a small arrear with two theatres and a pier, bars and restaurants, Its great for a short break or weeks holiday. Easy to get to from London. And also has other places to visit not very far away like Walton on Naze and Colchester.

Clacton pier was great for children the beach was clean and there was a few toilets locally which was good. Car parking is dotted around that’s free for a couple of hours but paid car parking is expensive

Plenty to do around Clacton by car or feet.. we choose feet!

Plenty to do around Clacton by car or feet.. we choose feet! Day at various arcades.. can be expensive, but loads of 2p machines still. if go to the pier (you have too) look at buy pre tickets for whole day, much better value. Day on the beach. Also lots places to eat and drink, again prices vary so look into this in advance if you wish to save some pennies!

Clacton was far nicer than I expected.

Clacton was far nicer than I expected. Loved the amenities and gardens and would be happy to recomend it for families in particular. It was easy to get around, though the traffic queues to Holland on Sea inland were a pain. More easily accessed along the coastal road.

We actually live in Clacton on Sea and just wanted to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary with dinner in your restaurant, which was an excellent meal, then an overnight stay in a comfortable room with a sea view and the full English breakfast completed our very happy stay perfectly. Breakfast was very nice, be sure to view the menu if offered as what you choose at check in is what will be presented. I just said we would have full English thinking it would be discussed at the table. Not a problem for me but my fiance is a bit picky but luckily the lovely lady was able to make an amendment for him! Staff that we encountered were lovely, friendly and chatty. Free parking onsite was a great bonus. Hotel is very close to the seafront and main shops. Bathroom was a good size.

Very close to the pier, fantastic walk along the coast to Holland on Sea and on to Walton on the Naze.. Have never seen so many beautiful, colourful and different beach huts. You won't need your car. Just leave it in front of the hotel. Quiet room, you can hear the sea gulls in the morning...lovely! Hot shower! Relaxing!
