I would recommend a visit to Chawton and a little visit into Alton. Especially if you like reading about Jane Austen. To walk in her footsteps and visit the places she did was very interesting and the only dull thing on our trip was the weather which reminded us that Jane walked this Road many times to the shops and post office in all conditions. We had lunch in the French Horn pub in Alton and then walked back to Chawton.
