lovely little village the coffee shop sells lovely cakes and my Fav Beautiful scones, also savory items we did not have but other that did they looked lovely and very fresh and home made fresh and very hot coffee which was great. It is the home of the sticky toffee pudding the shop is small but well stocked the factory for the pudding is at the back. The Priory is well worth a visit. and they have a lovely shop with a mix of many different items.

Cartmel village is very picturesque, quaint and welcoming.

Cartmel village is very picturesque, quaint and welcoming. We found the locals very laid-back and as you would expect very knowledgeable of the area and the attractions. At this time of year (September) parking was easy, plenty of room at the racecourse but just as easy to park in Cartmel square where their are plenty of places to eat. I would recommend Unsworth Yard just around the corner where their is a cheese shop, a brewery and somewhere to sit and enjoy a beer.

Cartmel is a beautiful village.

Cartmel is a beautiful village. We came for the Priory and the surrounding countryside. It's also quite a foodie centre, but if you want to try L'Enclume, don't expect just to turn up and get a table, its a Michelin restaurant and booked well in advance. The places we ate at included the Cavendish Arms (good Gourmet Pub food and excellent beer) and The Royal Oak, (good burgers). There are several craft type shops. Also a shop specialising in the famous Cartmel sticky toffee pudding and local delicacies. We stayed at the Priory Hotel, a good traditional hotel very much at the centre of the village. Would absolutely recommend Cartmel - just be warned, if you visit during the racing season, parking might be a bit tricky.

I’ve said it for a while now that pubs in cartmel have let their standards drop significantly, they will always get bookings due to the races and events and can afford to be complacent. Most ( not pig & whistle ) charge to much and provide poor service.

Cartmel was great for our weekend away.

Cartmel was great for our weekend away. In itself, there is not a great deal to do unless the races are on, at which times I suggest it would be very busy, but it is a great staging post for multiple attractions within easy reach. There are enough cafes, pubs and hotels in the village and all of those we patronised offered a warm welcome and good service. We stayed in the Cavendish Arms, ate at the Kings Arms and the Unsworth Courtyard and had a few cafe visits to the Mallard. I wholly recommend all three.

Perfect accommodation for our family with two teenagers and my mother-in-law with limited mobility. Freshly renovated and spotlessly clean. We also enjoyed some local treats from the host. Instructions were easy to follow, kitchen was well equipped and everytging seemed very new. Loved all the different areas to sit outside. Cartmel is beautiful, great little escape from the other more touristy parts of the Lakes. The gardens surrounding the lodges were beautiful as well.

Amazing little pod, has everything you could need. Views are incredible and hot tub a massive plus. The Cartmel sticky toffee pudding was a lovely addition and was very much enjoyed. And repurchased 😂
