FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

The room was well situated, great gym for a work out, I didn’t use the pool on this occasion but it looked very inviting. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice of fresh food from Continental right through to full English.

Small and compact, - ideal for exploring on foot.

Small and compact, - ideal for exploring on foot. University buildings dominate the landscape, blended with pleasant open spaces and river views. Contrasting central area offers the usual range of shopping, nightlife etc. Overall, projects the intellectual character you would expect with its museums etc where I would have spent weeks if I had that long!

Lovely city; been several times now from the North East & enjoyed each occasion. Last stay I booked a flat with free parking, only 0.5 miles outside of the city, on a bus route & was able to easily get in to enjoy the city which is relaxing, refined & safe. I drove down in my Tesla due to the flat that I booked having free parking & never used my car whilst there. But it was wonderful travelling down by car. I originally re-discovered Cambridge en route to Kent 2 yrs ago, due to it having lots of Tesla superchargers for charging your electric car. So if you have an EV it’s a nice city to travel to & have a city break without fretting over range anxiety! I used to love London but haven’t been in a while & took the train from Cambridge to London this time, but it was underwhelming. I preferred staying in Cambridge at the Grapevine flat in Clifton, which was a treasure of a place.

A great city, with so much to see.

A great city, with so much to see. Because we only live an hour away, we go regularly for 24 hours. You could stay much longer of you want to enjoy everything. Cars not welcome in town and parking limited so use the Park and Ride if you can. Lots of places to eat, many museums, colleges, chapels, the river, punting, pubs. Good market and interesting shops

Lovely place.

Lovely place. Bicycles seem to be the way to get around, especially for the students. Plenty of lovely restaurants and pubs available for meals. From our accommodation it was about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town.

My Wife and Myself are so over the Moon with this property we just have fallen for the Charm and Location of where this hotel is next to Restaurants and supermarkets. I don't know about parking as we do not drive but next to the property is a quiet side road has parking down there if that helps anyone with a car. Walking distance is about 5 minutes to the center of Cambridge. don't over look this little gem even though it's Cheaper than some it's worth a try. Staff are more than helpful.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had, especially if you’re travelling to Cambridge. All the staff was so kind and helpful, the room was super comfortable, with free water bottles and coffee/tea resupplied daily, they can give you a room with a balcony if you ask and there’s availability. The facilities were amazing, you get to wander around the college campus as if you were studying there. Breakfast is served in the main hall which adds a lot to the experience,

Hotel had very good facilities and staff were very helpful. The breakfast was lovely too and there was a great choice. Town was a bit of a trek but taxis are available but can be expensive. Local bus is the best, a short walk to the bus stop and takes about 15 mins. Very reasonable price aswell. We did enjoy our stay and Cambridge is a great place. We will definitely visit again.

Parking is plentiful but dreadful (and extra £) in the same sense. Big car park but full of what I assume are commuters, so if you can get there before 7am, no worries. If you can't then good luck! And if you ask the hotel staff for help, they're clueless. How can an out of town hotel struggle with parking?!?! Maybe it's because Cambridge hates cars.

Reasonably priced, large room with comfortable beds, lovely & clean and great buffet breakfast. Hotel is in a quiet area but not too far to park & ride for access to Cambridge city centre.
