FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

Bristol is a busy city, all going on, universities, theatres, restaurants, bars, clubs etc. Easy access from M5, Clifton is of particular interest to me for it's village feel! These days could not last as long as I would like, age thing. Busy city and only criticism, council with all their controls and regulations appear to want to make it as hard as possible to go there.

I loved the cosy single room, heating on on arrival. Lamp next to the bed and plugs. Greggs cafe is just the best for breakfast and lots of foods and cakes until 7pm. You can get a free Coffee too! With the app It’s a five minutes walk with plenty of shops and charity shops There’s a garage and Tesco 2 min walk 15 min walk to the leisure centre and 25 to UWE Get an UBER to Filton train station for around £6 daytime. £16 evenings. One stop takes you to city centre or the airport!!

We had four nights in Bristol and this was just right for exploring the city. It is easy to walk around with plenty of shops and interesting things to look at. We are a family of four and visited Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Zoo and We the Curious Science Museum. We the Curious needs booking in advance. Bristol is a lovely city to explore and we would not hesitate to go back for another short break. The bus service is very easy to use with children travelling for free.

We spent most of our time in and around Clifton with a day trip out to Bath and an Air Raid Shelter tour one afternoon in the city centre. We also loved the harbour area and the accessibility to be able to walk all around it, discovering some "hidden gems" including some Banksy wall art and the SS Great Britain. Being cat lovers, we paid a visit to the Bag of Nail pub to see the resident "bar" kitties asleep atop the counters. A Hard Hat tour of the Clifton Suspension bridge was a highlight as was the bridge itself and a walk through the surrounding park land of Clifton Down.

Lots of lovely architecture.

Lots of lovely architecture. Great views of the bridge from the observatory. Contrasting areas. Loved Easton with its funky Gloucester Road etc. Great places to eat and have coffee. Try the Gardens of Easton and The Journey (Tibetan) and the Bristolian (for brunch).

Bristol is a lovely place to visit but the shopping areas are looking run down now , major department stores now closed replaced with pop up shops. We did pop over to cribs causeway to complete our shopping needs.

The location is excellent. In Bristol City centre, but not in the too noisy parts. The rooms (I have stayed twice) were excellent. Very comfy bed. The room had an ice cooler (small fridge), which manner competitor hotels at this price point absolutely do not provide these days. The staff are professional and yet very polite and helpful.

The Arnos Manor Hotel is a conveniently located Hotel, which is close to my work and also Bristol city centre. It has free parking for residents, which you will struggle to find in city centre hotels. It’s spotlessly clean.
