Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur
Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.
Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.
Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.
North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.
Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Loads of eateries covering all price ranges. Loads of bookshops and the usual supermarkets. The 2.30mins free walks (info by the entrance to the Roman bath) are just fab. The guides are specialists and are extremely passionate. The Jane Austen and Herschel museum are wonderful. The Skyline walk is long but well worth it. Beautiful Bath.
Beautiful Bath. A gorgeous city stop if you love the Jane Austin era. Roman Baths, the Abby, the Cresent and Sally Lunns bun house were our highlights for our day trip . Bath is a beautiful city with lots to do the baths are mist definitely the place to visit and if you're book and get there by 9.30 latest its much quieter. The river Avon and shops over the bridge worth a visit as are the museums. I think, there were not many people at the hotel at the moment, we didn't hear any noises.
