Yet another cute cosy town in South Wales - well connected by train, road and a cosy train station. For Welsh afficionados like me, everything is picture postcard about the place. Long live the beauty of Wales and the warmth of Welsh people,

Aberdare seems a pleasant enough Welsh town with a good number of pubs and eateries and good access to surrounding towns, countryside and Cardiff. Our stay was largely about visiting family and so we did not make intensive use of the available entertainment.

National Trust Big Pit and getting to go down disused coal...

National Trust Big Pit and getting to go down disused coal mine - staff were fabulous, really interesting for all ages and worth a visit. Free Tower Zip World - hubby and son had a fab 1-1.5 hours on zip line - Approx £50 each. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bike Park Wales - £47.00 each without equipment hire they do full hire package too - well worth the visit, staff were friendly. Exhausting but fulfilling day spent going down mountain - you learn how unfit you are though as it is physically challenging. Barry Island - Home of Gavin and Stacey - paid parking but sea front is clean and well served - we went in April so rides etc only open at weekends but beach is clean and sandy. G/F fish and chips from Boofy’s on the sea front - fab ouuu lusss. Dunraven Pub - Treherbert - fab food and fab service. Catered for my Coeliac hubby which was a true bonus. Four Waterfalls Walk - amazing views and worth a visit but requires a decent amount of fitness, walk is 7.8 Kms and is tough going at times on uneven surfaces, gravel rocks, tree roots and slippy surfaces - dogs allowed but our Scottish terrier was k******ed by the time we got back, her legs were stumpier than usual. Parking around £5.00

I was born in Aberdare and it was good to visit after many years. As with many valleys towns it looks sad compared to what it used to but still has many things to attract visitors including an excellent market. It is an ideal position for the Dare Valley Country Park as well as the Brecon Beacons. The town park - just north of the town centre - is a brilliant place where motorcycle racing occurs annually. If you stay there, try to do the Waterfalls Walk around Ystradfellte and Penderyn.

Very easy walk into town, which is well serviced by a broad range of local shops along with a nearby Tesco superstore with petrol station. Needed an optician (forgot to pack spare contact lenses( and a choice of three within 5 mins walk.

Jo and Paul have got it right. From the lovely friendly welcome we got when we arrived to the beautiful spacious room along with an amazing tea and coffee making tray. The Cadbury’s hot chocolate cups were a lovely addition. They gave us recommendations for dinner. Went to Amore an Italian restaurant which was amazing. And then the breakfast. Jo said we wouldn’t leave hungry and we certainly didn’t. What a cooked breakfast it was. Thank you once again for a lovely stay in Aberdare. X

Beautifully decorated and very comfortable house. Comfy beds. Spotless clean. Well equipped kitchen. Milk, tea and coffee available on arrival. Lovely decked back garden. Good location with easy access to the town centre and lovely walk at the back road. Aberdare is very pleasant town. Alison is very helpful and responsive. The communication was excellent.

The hotel was up to my expectations, the rooms are very nicely decorated, and the bathroom was very nice, but in need of some further TLC, silicon mould, which wouldn't take too much effort to return it to its nice modern style. The staff were very helpful and considerate.

Location was perfect with a shop down the road but being on the outskirts of aberdare and being high enough that you can see the towns lights in the evening come to life. Cosy cottage that can occupy more people than we needed and Debbie was a friendly abd gracious host.

The hotel is in a beautiful location with fantastic views if you book a front facing room with a balcony. The breakfast is lovely and well worth the money. The lady who runs the hotel will do anything for guests.
