Solaize is a tiny village just south of Lyon.

Solaize is a tiny village just south of Lyon. There isn't much to see and do in Solaize itself, but Lyon is only 7km away and there are many sights and activities in the vicinity. Solaize itself is quiet and pleasant, you can sit on the main square seeing the locals play pétanque.

Okay for a stopover, but even that's a challenge. The rooms are too small, too dirty, and far too hot because there's no air conditioning. Breakfast is much too expensive. The only positive thing is its location right next to the highway. Otherwise, it's nothing but negative!

This experience was hell!

This experience was hell! What a terribly filthy and disgusting hotel! Cockroaches on the floor and in your bed! It was 38 degrees outside and the air conditioning wouldn't turn on—no ventilation at all. A waste of money, and the breakfast was disgusting. Get out of this hotel quickly. I can't believe Booking.com offers this hotel.

Without air conditioning in this heatwave, you have to leave the window open, and then you fully appreciate the proximity of both the highway and the railway line, which is busy all night. And I'm not even mentioning the mosquitoes that this industrial area clearly doesn't repel...

It's in the middle of nowhere, it's an industrial area.

It's in the middle of nowhere, it's an industrial area. You absolutely need a car. Expect traffic jams during rush hour. There are no restaurants locally except McDonald's. You'll need to eat in Venissieux or even Lyon itself, using the Venissieux park-and-ride, which is 15 minutes from Solaize and a great base for getting to Lyon.

It was a room with a bed, a kitchenette, and a table with chairs. All the necessary equipment was provided. Unfortunately, there was no closet to store clothes. So you lived out of a suitcase, which had to be laid out on the floor.
