We had a wonderful stay at this property. The room, though fairly small, was all that we needed and was both clean and bright. The hotel team were wonderful and the restaurant was delicious, an amazing part to the overall experience.

A castle dating back as far as the 13th century, but perfectly renovated to the utmost and highest standards. I was flabbergasted by the comfort, authenticity, beauty of this all. It is located perfectly with good views over te surroundings. To dine, you can drive the road, but you could also walk the old path to the right along the line of trees to the village (800 meters to the restaurant). Many aristocrat must have taken this route in the past.

It was a charming town, but mass tourism has changed...

It was a charming town, but mass tourism has changed everything. The restaurants have become standardized, and the staff (hipster) are overly pretentious! On the other hand, the reopening of the mountain huts for meals is fantastic. But the highlight of my trip was the visit to the Jeune Montagne cooperative, with its unique status and organization. Bravo for its warm welcome and excellent service!

Laguiole.

Laguiole. A place that blends centuries-old traditions with modernity. Charming people. A cuisine that ranges from very traditional and flavorful to refined and surprising. Visit the forge or the local shops; you'll be warmly welcomed. But be sure to look carefully and compare prices.

We were there to 1) have dinner at Michel Bras's restaurant...

We were there to 1) have dinner at Michel Bras's restaurant 2) be in the heart of the magnificent Aubrax region 3) buy knives! 4) enjoy local specialties (visit the Jeune Montagne cheese factory and buy Laguiole cheese, fouace Roux bread, etc.)

Thankfully, it was just a phase.

Thankfully, it was just a phase. I first came here about twenty years ago. A knife cost around €50. Now the cheapest must be €100, and then there's no upper limit. Disappointing.

Nice, but the good restaurants require reservations. The meat and cheese are good everywhere. The knives are a bit overpriced. The visit to the Jeune Montagne cooperative is great, and you can buy cheese there.

A small but very lively village in the Aveyron countryside,...

A small but very lively village in the Aveyron countryside, offering a variety of activities (hiking on the Aubrac plateau, fishing, hunting, visiting the Forge de Laguiole cutlery factory, etc.). Furthermore, one can easily find excellent restaurants serving local dishes at very affordable prices.

A very nice hotel indeed. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a nice view over the garden. The evening meal was superb. The village of Laguiole is charming and has some interesting shops.
