La Grand Motte is pleasant and has numerous bars and cafes. The beach area is clean and looked after. It's not the most sophisticated seaside town but it's probably got something for most people.

A modern resort and although the buildings are mainly apartments we liked the architecture. Very clean The beach is very long and sandy although too early in the year for us to go on it or swim. Many stylish restaurants bars and cafes within walking distance, a lot around and near the marina. We had lunch in le Tandem, a small restaurant near the front specialising in freshly caught seafood. Moderately expensive (about £50 per head for 3 courses) but the quality of the cooking was outstanding. Lots of other shops. The resort was surprisingly busy for March. To get to or from Montpellier Centre is pretty easy by public transport. There are local buses which stop outside La Poste (15mins walk from the front) which connect with tram stations for the onward tram. The cost of €2.60 per person ( €1 bus and €1.60 tram ) is amazing value. A taxi from the airport to the Grande Motte is pretty expensive at around €40. There may be a cheaper alternative but we did not have enough time to check this out.

I prefer La Grande Motte over Grau du Roi or Palavas-les-...

I prefer La Grande Motte over Grau du Roi or Palavas-les-Flots or Carnon because it has more woody areas and possible to walk around pine trees and by the sea. Prices are also better at restaurants: a menu can be around 18 euros when other towns start around 22 euros and up. Lots of outdoor activities. Parking a hard to find though.

Beautiful place.

Beautiful place. Quite and relaxing place where to spend the weekend to unwind. There are a lots of restaurants and shops, the beach and people are so kind and friendly. You have to try the Italian Fabio pizza and the Boulangerie - Pâtisserie- Salon de Thé Le Versailles: excellent quality!!

It was our first visit to La Grande-Motte, specifically for...

It was our first visit to La Grande-Motte, specifically for the spa hotel, in January, so not a good time to express a view about this holiday town, although there are great beaches and plenty of promenade facilities.

The resort and the accommodation only suitable for young...

The resort and the accommodation only suitable for young people - children and young families. Most certainly not suitably for pensioners, and this should bebeen made clearer on the site - far too long to walk from reception to accommodation, especially with suitcases and necessities for self catering.

What a fantastic experience. We intended to stay 6 days but we cancelled our next hotel and stayed 14 days in Novotel la grande Motte Golf. Super friendly and helpfull staff,clean and quiet rooms,good breakfast and the swimming pool was the highlight for our 4-5 year old daughter We were not familiar with the Camargue region but discovered so many things in the region. The location is really nice. The city built in one architectural style looks nice. The beach is clean. Cafes and restaurants, supermarket and shopping are within few minutes walk from aparthotel. The rest was a disaster.

Everything around hotel was perfect. Absolutely great staff, perfect breakfast, parking next to hotel, view from balcony amazing. Very closer Grande Motte centre with plenty of restaurants.
