The city is much more lively than Bastia with a nice art museum a historical museum and several beautiful beaches not far (3 miles) from the city center. Unfortunately, I booked an all day boat trip to Bonifacio which was cancelled due to rough seas. I recommend starting your acquaintance with the market, then visiting the cathedral. After getting to know the cathedral, visit Napoleon's house. If you take a room with sea view ask for a high floor such as 4 or 5 otherwise the view will be the buildings at the otherside of the street. The hotel is a 15 minute bus journey from the centre of Ajaccio but local transport stops right outside the hotel.
